Re: Frank Dancevic

According to the Newport tournament's Twitter feed (!), Frank is scheduled to play. I know it conflicts with Davis Cup but I think this is a good move. Grass and Frank go well together.

Yeah, probably the best decision for Frank. A good Wimbledon and a nice showing in Newport and he can keep himself in the top 100, at least until his Rogers Cup points come off. Plus, going to play on South American clay could definitely mess with whatever momentum and confidence he keeps through the rest of the grass season. It leaves me a little frightened of our DC lineup, though

Speaking of rankings, Frank will be back in the top 100 for the first time in nearly a year when the rankings come out on Monday

Re: Frank Dancevic

Polansky will take care of business for us...! Ahem.

If he plays like he did this week who knows, he could win Newport. Of course, he could also draw Dent in round 1 and crash out early. I wish I could go, they're inducting Seles into the hall of fame this year, I always liked her.

Re: Frank Dancevic

Dancevic vs Darcis, court 15 on Monday, last match of the day.

Frank picked up 150 points and approx. $70 000 for his efforts last week.

Which is a few bucks more than I made last week...

Re: Frank Dancevic

Yeah they moved him to court 10 it seems.

Already down an early break.

Re: Frank Dancevic

Once again it's his return game that's his undoing. Won only 4 points on Darcis's serve that entire set.

Re: Frank Dancevic

2nd set TB, gotta win this one

Saved a big BP at 4-4, but still hasn't done anything to Darcis' serve.

Re: Frank Dancevic

Lost it

Through two sets, he's won just 7 points on Darcis serve

So much for building on the Eastbourne momentum

Is it even possible to only win 7 points against the serve of a guy who's 5"10?

Re: Frank Dancevic

Match is over

Had three break points in the final set, but lost them all. Only got broken twice, but when you return so poorly, that's enough

Re: Frank Dancevic

I'm trying not to be too disappointed here but after Eastbourne I think we all got our hopes up a bit. This was an absolute drubbing by a guy who, before today, had won 3 matches this year. There was a 21 point differential... this wasn't even as close as the scoreline indicates.

Both Frank and Wozniak had a lot of momentum coming into today's matches and both bow out in R1. Not a good day for Canadian tennis!!
