Take it Frank!
andrey hasnt played near his best..or even at a good level since he won the 500 event in germany.

Re: Frank Dancevic

Frank takes care of business - impressive scoreline; 4 and love. Ebden and Golubev just starting their match.

He has done it in a match here and there, but not for longer stretches. There's a reason Ebden is favourite. The main point was that all the players in this section are capable of playing at a very high level for a set/match, and on very rare occasions, a tournament. And if you ranked them after potential divided by consistency, I would go Golubev, Frank, Ebden, Kamke.

Anyways: Great win Frank! Granollers-like break point stats! Too bad there are usually three of those the wrong way for each going the right way...

Re: Frank Dancevic

Frank lost the first set 36, both players had two chances each.

From 11 *1530 in the second, he wins seven points in a row to get the break. Saves *1540 in the next game to lead 41*.

Lost 36 67(7)

from 41* via 43* to *53. Lost serve and both held out. Got down 14** in the breaker, had **65 and 76**.

Re: Frank Dancevic

Frank is in Dallas for what is arguably the toughest challenger of the year. Needs to win 3 qualifier matches just to get into MD ... he should do it (Sela in R3 will be toughest) but to defend his title I think he'll need to win 8 matches in 7 days. That is nuts. You'd think they'd have given him a WC as defending champion.

Re: Frank Dancevic

I thought they should've have given him a WC too but probably they wanted to hold on to them to see if they could lure Ferrer or other big name early losers in Indian Wells. Whether it's cause Frank was pissed that he didn't get a WC, is under the weather with the flu or sth., his back is acting up, or he just had a flat day for no reason, he lost badly today, 3 and 2, to Molchanov.

Ranking will drop into the 190s and then he has 41 points to defend in Miami next week.

Re: Frank Dancevic

Good draw for Frank in Miami qualies. De Schepper is beatable, as seeds go. Marchenko in round 2 will be tough - he got to the semis in Dallas last week. (The Alund and Ram sections, and maybe the Rufin and Stakhovsky sections, are the only better ones he could have drawn.)

Re: Frank Dancevic

Frank won 6-4, 7-6. Marchenko lost. So Dutra Silva next. More of a clay court guy so good chances for Frank (although Miami court is so slow, it makes most clay surfaces look like San Jose). Milos will face the winner of 2 qualifiers in second round ... so a Frank / Milos matchup isn't out of the question.

Re: Frank Dancevic

I wondered if the courts weren't slower in Miami. Frank served and returned a lot better of second serve than his opponent today. Fingers crossed that getting past Dutra Silva is a formality. (Really hope he doesn't draw Milos, should he win tomorrow, but it would be an interesting match up still.)

Re: Frank Dancevic

Qualified - coming back from a set down against Dutra Silva. Broke to win match game, avoid having to serve for it. Wonder who he'll draw?
