Re: Frank Dancevic

Great win against Levine yesterday. Now follow it up against Williams.
Go for the title, please.

Next week off and then hopefully Memphis qualis.

Re: Frank Dancevic

Frank takes the first set 64. He saved break point(s) in his first service game, then missed to in his first return game. Broke to love for *42, but failed serving for the set. Broke it home easily though. Franks been up and down, but deserved it IMO.

Rhyne seems like a pretty obnoxious character. Throwing his hat and his racquet to the ground after every miss basically.

Re: Frank Dancevic

First time I've been watching a match with new let rule. On one serve Williams had a fortunate tick of the net that changed directions slightly. Dancy hit a behind the back backhand down the line to win the point. Nice. :-)

Re: Frank Dancevic

Frank was way to passive in that second set, and lost it deservedly. 64 46 *00

Re: Frank Dancevic

This is extremely disappointing from Frank. He's letting Williams dictate the match. This is not going to end well.

Re: Frank Dancevic

From 30 300* to 34*.

He is serving poorly, and not attacking at all really.

I can't believe Williams has not gotten more than a point penalty though, his behaviour has been disgraceful.

Re: Frank Dancevic

Williams hit an ace at BP, then a let ace , then another ace at MP

Re: Frank Dancevic

Crazy that that was 'somewhat keeping his emotions in check' by the commentators.

Re: Frank Dancevic

Basically if anyone wants to know why Frank will never reach his potential - or the top 100 ever again - they just need to watch this match. Absolute inexcusable capitulation by Frank - handed the match on a platter to Williams.

Williams was a disgrace during the match but frankly at least he fought

Re: Frank Dancevic

Saved MP at 35 *3040, and had two break points when Williams was serving for it. Was in control of the first one, but a slightly too weak approach cost him. He actually tried a Beckeresque diving volley, but ended up with a bleeding thumb instead of the point.

At least he started playing again in the last game.

Frank still has made all of us Canadian fans proud with a good performance this week.

There's no way to sugarcoat it - he threw away a match against an inferior opponent. And one mentally who would have gone away in the 3rd set if Frank hadn't let him back in.

Frank better use this as an opportunity to qualify for San Jose cause this was just a disgrace.

Well, he will a lose a bunch of points after Dallas/IW, but after that he has nothing to defend basically.

The rest of your post is spot on though.

I don't think I tried to sugarcoat it all. He played way too passive for most of the match. Of course it's not good enough to start hitting the ball again at that point. If I was trying to defend him here, I would say he got bullied by Williams. However if you allow yourself to get intimidated by a kid 7 years younger, it just underlines how mentally fragile he is.

I won't be surprised if he takes a break and waits for Memphis. He is probably both physically and mentally drained after both a long week, and a horrible loss.

Wasnt implying you were sugarcoating it - was just an expression I was using to make my point. Your analysis is spot on
