Re: Frank Dancevic

I think his choosing to play despite knowing his form is nowhere near ready is a combination of wanting to play himself back into form through match play and to collect the paychecks he, as mentioned, earned by raising his ranking to get to where he gains direct entry into main draws. Judging from how the score went today, he got better as the match went on, likely as his back warmed up. I hope he gets a Rogers Cup WC based on him having played DC when asked this year, that he did not get one last year, and that he would need the money. Tennis Canada arguing he doesn't deserve a WC because of poor current form wouldn't go over well with Frank, for sure, and the feuding would be renewed - I, for one, don't want to see this.

I know for a fact that he has a very good reason for playing this event and it isn't exactly because he needs the first round cheque, more complicated than that, so it is great that you continue to defend him.

Re: Frank Dancevic

He took a WC into Granby this week. That should be a good sign.

Re: Frank Dancevic

His opponent is very beatable. If he loses here, it won't be good.

Re: Frank Dancevic

Frankie wins his 1st set since he hurt his back!

Crossing my fingers that he gets through this match OK.

Re: Frank Dancevic

Yeah, he's rolling, judging from the score (now serving at 4-1 in second set). And with the back warm now, is serving really well. I guess the sure footing of the hardcourt helps, plus he would be that much more recovered, have regained his fitness.

Frank is back! Wins 6-2, 6-2, finishing it off with 2 aces.

Frank falls in straight sets to Bester 7-6 6-4. Bad loss for Frank. Good win for Phillip though.
