Yes, but not direct entry. We have been specializing more on qualifying in recent years (with some success - Dancevic with the calendar slam and Raonic undefeated).

Re: Frank Dancevic

Frank drew Martin Klizan of Slovakia in the first round, most ppl on MTF are saying that Klizan will beat Frank pretty easily and even make it to the third round. I say Frank has 20/80 chance to win this.

Klizan will make quick work of Frank unfortunately. Just look at this as match practice - a tune up for Wimbledon

Re: Frank Dancevic

Dancevic retired after just 4 games. Is his back still bothering him or did he plan to retire early so not to reinjure a back still not fit? You'd think he would have been able to last longer, to give it a workout, if it was not acting up.

Re: Frank Dancevic

Im really annoyed with frank

seeing what he said in his interview it really maade no sense for him to come here. The money might have been a driving decision but honestly he was in no shape to come here, he took the spot of someone who could have done more.

i mean, he might not even be able to make wimbledon and if he cant then this was even more stupid

He was flying over to Europe anyways...

Yeah whatever Frank didnt deserve to play, but he's earned the paycheck, and if tennis didn't reserve all money for the top 1% guys wouldn't need to do this type of thing.

yeah i agree with you about the money

but i think, even with that being the case i think he should have just pulled out.I mean, he said he felt pain in warm up which would have been the signal not to play already

money might be an issue but you shouldnt fuck with back injuries

Re: Frank Dancevic

I think this is a good decision by Frank, he played tennis to earn his spot in the main draw. Why should he give his money to someone else who did not play good enough tennis in the past year to deserve it.

Peter Polansky
Nestor - Chvojka - Pospisil - Raonic - Peliwo

Re: Frank Dancevic

to protect himself. he obviosuly was not healthy enough to play.Yes he deserved his spot but I think personal health should come first.

i do wish the money was better for players as low ranked as frank because then maybe he could have taken the time to recover properly

I always hear this argument, and it's just not true, you don't know if the person in Frank's spot would have done any better.

If Franks needs and wants the money and has DE I don't see why he shouldn't get it anyway, he got in the MD, so he has 1st crack, he's a low ranked guy, so you can't really blame him for taking advantage of his oppertunity.

Re: Frank Dancevic

in case you guys missed it, Frank is no longer raking in the big bucks playing on the ATP World Tour, he's limited to primarily challengers and qualifiers now.

To put it in perspective, he made more money playing 4 games today than he made winning the entire Dallas challenger earlier this year. It's a no-brainer really. He should show up even if he had to crawl on all fours holding a racquet between his teeth

well they definately could have won more games. Thats really more what i meant when i said that, they could have made it competitive

and again my main issue is the health. If he was feeling pain during warm up then its obvious that he wasnt physically fit enough to play. I understand the financial situation but at some point health has to and should be the primary concern especially when your dealing with the back.

he was there for the money and i get that but i think its awful that these guys ever get into that situation where health takes a back seat

look at these quotes from frank:

"I was petrified out there, I didn't know what would happen. I started feeling twinges even during the warm-up and it only got worse during the match," said Dancevic. "I didn't want to mess up my whole summer, it was just not worth it for me."

"I wasn't able to play at 100 per cent, I was not in it at all," he said. "I played careful, I was scared to go for anything, I just knew there was no way I could go on."

"I've entered Wimbledon qualifying just in case I'm feeling really great," he said. "I was playing so well in the spring and then I got this injury, for five days I lay on the floor with my legs on a bed, I was immobile. I only started training last week.

i do feel bad for him. I am also kind of annoyed with him though

oh well, just hope for the best and hopefull he can play wimbledon

Maybe he needs the money to pay for his injury expenses, unless Tennis Canada is taking care of it, although I somehow doubt it.
