Re: Frank Dancevic

He isn't playing Sarasota, sorry, as stated, he will be out the next handful of weeks for sure. The question is now, will he participate at the French, which will be determined by the MRI, he will travel to Europe and his overall schedule will be determined by how the tests go with his back.

What is being said is that there was a loud pop when Frank's back gave out. Frank said it was the loudest thing he had heard, and one fan said it looked like he'd been shot in his back. So basically, what we have here is a situation where his back may have completely "broken" again, so to speak. What a shame that would be. I guess the amount of matches he's been playing recently caught up with him.

Re: Frank Dancevic

Really, really too bad for Dancevic, who is finally on the edge of re-entering the top 100.

He fell on set point and even had to get help to get back to his chair. Called the trainer and retired immediately.
Even any if he manages to play in the Open, he'll be too weeks without playing. He was sharp, winning matches and had confidence.

Re: Frank Dancevic

why does this kind of crap always happen to players i like?

davy - was gaining confidence, looked like he was coming back and then gets injured again and sick

andi beck - strong finish to last year, gets himself back into the top 100 but now has back issues

frank - gaining steam, looking to get back into the top 100 and playing as well as i have ever seen and then gets injured as he was about to wrap up a second consecutive challenger

Re: Frank Dancevic

A bit of a silver lining is that Dancevic only has 103 points to defend until (not including) the US Open. He has 499 points now - 396 points today would point him at World No. 138. Hopefully he's only out for a month or two at worst and can recover quickly the feel for the game he's found of late. Best of luck, Frank

Re: Frank Dancevic

As it stands right now (based on Wednesday), Frank basically cannot walk. Since the incident happened several days ago now, that's a very bad sign. Hopefully things aren't as bad as they seem.

Twitter. But now we have the latest news, glad he's OK. But sad to see it looks like the French Open is out of the question. At least he still has a fair shot at making Wimbledon.
