Re: Olek Dolgopolov Jr.

Seventh-seeded Ukrainian Alexandr Dolgopolov kicked off proceedings on opening Sunday with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 win over Great Britian’s Jamie Baker. Dolgopolov fired 15 aces past the wild card recipient and capitalised on three of his 10 break points.

The 21 year old has made one of the biggest jumps into the Top 100 of the South African Airways 2010 ATP Rankings this season, rising 85 spots to a career-high of No. 46 this week. He will face the winner between Yen-Hsun Lu and Karol Beck for a place in the quarter-finals.

Re: Olek Dolgopolov Jr.

Great job! He's got a decent chance at the semis, too. He plays Ward next, which is good because of his low ranking, but bad because he beat both Lopez and Shuettler.

If at first you don't succeed, lower your standards.

Re: Olek Dolgopolov Jr.

Llodra next faces No. 7 seed Alexandr Dolgopolov of Ukraine, who ended British title hopes with a 6-3, 6-4 decision against wild card James Ward. Dolgopolov fired 14 aces and converted on two of his 16 break points to close out the win in one hour and 20 minutes.

The 21-year-old Kiev native, who has climbed from No. 131 to No. 57 in the South African Airways 2010 ATP Rankings this season, will be playing in his first ATP World Tour semi-final.

Re: Olek Dolgopolov Jr.

Lost to Llodra 3-6 5-7, but a semi is a great result, especially on grass, where he is pretty inexperienced. On to Wimbledon, then. Here's his section of the draw:

Almagro - Seppi
Kamke - Garcia-Lopez
Chuidinelli - Dolgopolov
Kendrick - Tsonga

Seems tough, but Tsonga is always injured, and Almagro had that split last week. Who knows, could be a good week...

Re: Olek Dolgopolov Jr.

He had a great match today at Wimbledon with Tsonga and very nearly beat him. This guy has a great future ahead of him. Also he seems like a lovely guy, always smiling and looking like he is enjoying himself.

What a cutie too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Olek Dolgopolov Jr.

if he just served first in the decider, he probably would have won

looked better in the 5th at the start, had a bp then, tsonga hit the line and struggled to hold from there on
anyway, great match, huge serving has to be mentioned especially
good tournament

Re: Olek Dolgopolov Jr.

Sooo close, but he exceeded my expectations. Hopefully he'll have some good results on the clay so he can get into the masters.
