Re: Milos Raonic

Expected but still impressive. Sharko will give Milos a bigger test on Wed I suspect. Will be interesting after that as both Del Potro and Djoker will be great measuring sticks for how Milos is progressing on clay; but both of them are nursing minor injuries (I'm surprised Del Potro took WC at last minute; my guess it is 50/50 that Djoker withdraws before his 1st match on Tues).

Re: Milos Raonic

From scoreline & stats looks like nice win today over a potentially tough opponent (Gulbis) ... and he got one in before the rain washed out the day. Was up 6-2 6-6 (5-2*) in TB before losing 4 points in a row ... saved SP & won 3 points in a row to take it in straights.

If the rain holds off, probably Berdy in the QF this PM.

Re: Milos Raonic

He beat Robredo in a 3rd set tiebreaker and after dropping the 1st set. However, he was like 2 for 9 or something on break points and 0 for 1 saving his own break pts, which made the match closer than it should have been. His reward is a semi appearance against Nadal on clay, which will be shown on Sportsnet One at 10:00am tomorrow. Hopefully he can make a match with Nadal, which even if he loses, would really build his confidence for the rest of the clay court season.

Re: Milos Raonic

Blanco is out as his coach. That tells me that Milos isn't content with just being a top 15 player and losing in the 3rd/4th round of big tournaments, he wants more out of himself. Hope it helps him take that next step.

I wonder who will be next for him.

Peter Polansky
Nestor - Chvojka - Pospisil - Raonic - Peliwo

Re: Milos Raonic

I am quite worried about this. I feel like Blanco was working hard to make Milos a more well-rounded player -- without trying to turn him into something he is not (i.e.: a grinder/pusher). Well, let's hope for good things from the next coach.

Milos is changing coach? Are our prayers been answered yet? Is this the birth of Baby-Pete?

Re: Milos Raonic

I'm surprised. I was hoping he'd ditch Galo last fall, not now, but he seems to have hit a plateau again.

Re: Milos Raonic

It's maybe a bit weird to change in the middle of the season, but maybe Blanco took Milos as far as he could, and his strategy of working on Milos weaknesses might not have been a good one, Milos needs to focus on what he's good at now I think, the next coach should take him into the top 10 at the very least.

Re: Milos Raonic

Yeah, Milos really needed something new as he's been struggling for a while.
He's still in the mix to qualify for London surprisingly enough.

He still has plenty of time he's stuck in the "too goo for San Jose, not good enough for Masters and Slams" for months now.

Re: Milos Raonic

He sure looked lost in those return games against Kohlschreiber. Hope this will work out for him but in the short term he could be in trouble.

During the match yesterday, commentator said Ivan Ljubicic might be his new coach.
