Re: Milos Raonic

Miami is definitely slow .. and more importantly has low bounce ... which Milos has historically had problems with (eg. why he's not necessarily that great on grass). My understanding is that this (getting down low for his ground strokes) is something he worked on in the off season. Let's see. On the plus side, why I agree this is a pretty good draw, is that both Querry & Berdych also like high bounce courts (as most big guys do I guess). But I'm hoping Milos doesn't have to face Querry .. hopefully the "amazing" Frank shows up at Miami & dispatches of both Kubot & Querry setting up an all-Canadian R3 matchup.

I agree that he should get to Berdych at least. But his mental focus was so bad in IW, and I wonder if it won't continue here if he is preoccupied with the upcoming Davis Cup QF.

I like Milos. You are very lucky to have him up in Canada. Down here in the U.S. we can no longer find anyone that even knows what a tennis racket looks like

Milos Raonic ‏@milosraonic

Unfortunately I withdrew today, bad luck. Got sick and it was too much. Next time.

Re: Milos Raonic

Ugh... His easiest draw ever at a Masters 1000. At least Berdych held on to beat Falla. I would have put my head through the screen and pulled my hair out if Milos pulled out of a 1000 where he could have gotten to the semi finals facing Rufin, Querry, Falla and Gasquet/Almagro.

No kidding. Actually, the way Berdych was playing, that was almost a guaranteed win too. 300+ ranking points down the drain :-(.

No comments on match yesterday? And not even a thread in General on the win (although lots of discussion of Pops loss to Seppi + bunch of CH match reports). Arguably most important weekend in Canadian tennis in a long time and Milos is already clearly THE best player we've ever had (Greg Rudely-run-away doesn't count) and has chance of being a #1 in the world in a few years (ok, THAT should start some discussion ;-)). Is Milos style just not something MTF likes or is it more of a Canadian dont-beat-your-chest problem?

Anyways, on the match, hoping this was just a case of Milos takes-awhile-to-get-going ... he really didn't seem that great off the ground ... and was horrible near the end of second set / start of third set ... if the Fog hadn't DF'd to start tiebreak (so Milos could just serve it out), this could have been a different match.

He seemed to really struggled at time yesterday but he got the job done when he needed to.

A lot of us post on a tennis section of a hockey board and I keep forgetting to come here.

I think Milos will win tomorrow, he rises to the occasion and this is one hell of an occasion!

A lot of pressure on Milos, everyone just expects that he will beat Seppi who is ranked only two spots below him.

I agree, but I also think he has taken on the role as Canada's leader and will thrive under the pressure.

Re: Milos Raonic

I think he'll get it done. If Milos plays at a decent level on these favourable courts (which basically means getting his serves in), he'll win the match. I was actually more worried about Fognini pulling something ridiculous out against him than Seppi, but Milos didn't even play particularly well and still won in straights.
