Re: Milos Raonic

Milos loses the set, got to 30 on all 5 of Sock's service games but never got to 40 until the last game of the set (on a DF). He had a break point but did not take it and after a while Sock took the set.

Re: Milos Raonic

Oh man, what happened? Anyone see any substantial match reports? Milos is now provisionally ranked 16th BUT, Haas, Nishikori, Dolgopolov, and Querry can pass him with a win at Memphis. Actually, if Haas makes it to the final & loses to one of the other 3, then 2 players will pass him. And Wawrinka can tie him with a final appearance in Buenos Aries, pass him with a win. Whether Nadal actually plays IW or not may have a factor here, but Milos in in real danger of having to face one of the top-4 in round of 32 at IW & Miami! Yikes. And picking up serious points before clay season may be in jeopardy.

My mistake. Anywhere from 9-24 won't face top-4 until R16. So his real problem is if he doesn't get back into top-16 before Europe Clay season (where there are only 16 seeds for M1000's). So, at IW & Miami, if he were at say 17 or 18, that wouldn't matter that much IMHO. There are some pretty clear tiers right now in mens singles:
- the top-4 (assuming Nadal comeback is ok)
- the next-4
- the next 15-20 (there are some anomalies here, but for the most part, anyone in here on a good day can beat anyone else on a not-so-good day)
Whether Milos plays a 9-16 or a 17-24 is not that important in R16... eg. slumping Isner, Monaco, Simon are all probably easier matchups than Nishikori, Wawrinka, or Querry (assuming he recovers his form)

Re: Milos Raonic

I was just watching the scores online and he didn't have as many aces as usual and had a ton of break chances or games where he had 2 points but didn't capitalize.

Re: Milos Raonic

So Kei wins in Memphis & Stan makes it to final at Buenos Aries ... so Milos drops into 17th place tie with Stan (not sure how they break ranking ties). The good news is that, besides Barca with 180 points, he really has nothing substantial (>100 points) to defend before fall HC season (180 in Rogers Cup). Hopefully by then he'll have made it into the top-10. But it would be really nice to do something good at IW &/or Miami so he can get back into top-16 before clay court season.

Re: Milos Raonic

Milos draws:
- R1: Q/Llodra (Llodra the lefty could give him trouble but he is 4-0 lifetime against him ... Q - would be nice to see all Canadian round here :-) )
- R2: likely Cilic (dang ... just about worst choice of 9-16 seeds besides Nishikori ... all others probably would have been easy)
- R3: likely Tsonga (definitely the easiest choice of 1-8 .. so if he gets this far quarters is doable)
- QF: Djoker ... and if he's here call it a good run, learn from the match so good experience, and head home to Montreal for the exhibition

Re: Milos Raonic

Not too bad of a draw for being a 17 seed (better than the last two years here when he drew Fed in R4 and R3). A focused Milos in good form could make the QFs out of that for sure.
