Re: Milos Raonic

Through to the SF of a clay 500 without losing a set, and taking out one of the top 5! Who would have thunk it?

Re: Milos Raonic

Ferrer is a much smarter player than Murray and he knows how to beat Milos (having done it multiple times in the past). Still, if Milos repeats the level he showed today again, it will be tough for anybody to beat him.

Re: Milos Raonic

Great mental fortitude from Milos after choking his service game away at *5-4 in the 2nd. Milos also dictated play for the vast majority of the match. Murray put in a couple of attacking games in the 2nd set and looked really good, but then it was back to Milos dictating play.

I believe this also puts Milos ranking up to 23, which gets him the better draws for the Slams.

Re: Milos Raonic

After watching Milos against Montanes, I can't believe he suddenly transforms to a different player.
What a week for Milos!
Still don't think he has much of a chance against Ferrer but he will make it much closer than their previous encounters.

It's on Sportsnet at 2 pm local time. They are in the second set right now in the east. Tomorrow all the Sportsnets will carry the Ferrer match at 7:30 am eastern.

Not necessarily, I've seen guys ranked lower have nice draws, and guys ranked higher not have so nice draws.

Obviously, and especially on clay, he could get a nasty early round surprise, but the top 24 gets him protected from the top 8 until the Round of 16 instead of guaranteeing such a matchup in the round of 32, which is a big plus.

Re: Milos Raonic

With the Madrid draw just released... Milos needs to get his ranking a little higher so he can be seeded at these tournaments...

TERRIBLE DRAW:
First Round Vs. David Nalbandian (Ranked #49 Clay Court Preferance)
Second Round Vs. Roger Federer (Roger has a bye first round so he wont be tired)

Good News: He doesn't lose any ranking points

Good luck Milos!

Re: Milos Raonic

Pretty horrific draw for Milos in Madrid, Nalbandian in round 1 followed by Federer. Fortunately he defends his points by showing up to the court for his first match.

Re: Milos Raonic

His main hope has got to be that Nalbandian is tired out after his efforts in Belgrade.

Re: Milos Raonic

True. Nalbandian is one of the worst match-ups for Milos. Solid a.k.a. "big enough" to absorb Milos' pace and that backhand could cause all sorts of problems. Especially if Raonic insists on that Soderling-like cross-court shot (I think Nalby has an answer for that one).

Good news is, if he makes it through, I think he has a solid shot against Federer. More solid than he did at Indian Wells.
