You are right for the age difference,my mistake. But looking on the results in this year it's obvious that Borna is much more successful than Rubin.

While Rubin played under-16 tournaments,Borna played under-18 tournaments on the G5, G4 and G2 level. On those tournaments he was once in semis, once in the final and once he was a winner. He has 12 victories on G levels in this year.

Rubin, on the other hand, has never even played a match on the G level.I'm not saying that he is not a talent, but difference is obvious.

Great news from Italy!!!In the 1/4 final Borna Coric won the match against Noah Rubin 7-6 6-4.

And then 1/2 final was played today too.And Borna won against home player, #2 seeded Filippo Baldi 5-7 6-4 6-2!!!

Yes he has a good results but on very different category of tournaments then Borna.Borna is #327, Rubin don't even have a ranking yet although he is 9 months older than Borna. That's all I wanted to say.

Borna will play today a final match against Albert Alcaraz from Spain.Alcaraz is 1.5 year older than Borna. He is ranked #299.Interesting thing is that Alcaraz was given a WC for qualifications for masters in Madrid. He played against Igor Andrejev and lost 6-1 6-1.Alcaraz have already a pro ranking. He is #1562.

There are no great results from Alcaraz in this year.He played two G2 tournaments and lost both times in 1st round. He played one G3 tournament and lost again in 1st round.Only on G4 tournament he won one match.

Borna played against Alcaraz in 2009 in 1/4 finals of Les Petits As and won 6-0 6-2.

Re: Juniors

Another interesting fact: If Borna wins today he will be the youngest champion on Torneo Dell Avenire in the last 35 years (maybe ever,I didn't look that far).Only two players that won this tournament before their 15 th birthday were: Juan Martin Del Potro in 2003 (14 years and 9 months) and Guillermo Perez-Roldan in 1984 (14 years and 8 months).

Borna is today 14 years and 7 months old.

Re: Juniors

Uh...Borna lost the final 6-1 6-0...ugly,ugly...obviously Alcaraz is way better player on clay than Borna is!

Re: Juniors

Borna is in quaters of G3 in Tunisia. He won 1st round vs 2 and half years older british guy ranked in middle 400's easily (6:1, 6:1), while today he beated 1. seed in 2nd round, 2 and half years older american guy who is 134. in the world (6:3, 6:3). That is his 1st top 150 scalp, actually top 200 r top 250. H will ump from 327. to 279.And he will become 2nd ranked player of his generation (only Quinzi is better). So, he will be in top 300 for first time. If he win the whole thing, he will become top 200. He should win tommorow (opponent is ranked in middle 400's), than he could play vs 3rd seed (201.) who is 3 and half years older. He should get WC for G2 in Marocco which starts 4.7.2011. hey are playing on clay.

Re: Juniors

he is in final. he will be 223. on new list, if he win he will be 195. it's only one guy younger than him in top 500. some indian guy born 1997 (384) , but he is from asia, so he isn't relevant. relevant is stefan kozlov (born 1998) ranked in 540's.

Re: Juniors

he won, 6:0, 6:2!!! he will be at around 195. spot on new list. he didn't lost single set in whole tournament. he played TB in only one set. in all other sets he lost atmost 3 games. he lost only 4.6 games per match. and the thing is, all opponents are older than him atleast 2 years. opponent from semis is 3 and half years older.

Re: Juniors

Wow, impressive performance last week from Borna. His reward is a big jump in the rankings: from 327 to 197. He's now ranked #2 among players born in 1996 or later:

93. QUINZI, Gianluigi ... 01 February 1996 ... 288.75 pts
197. CORIC, Borna ... 14 November 1996 ... 180 pts
290. ONISHI, Ken ... 18 February 1996 ... 138.75 pts
336. GEENS, Clement ... 11 March 1996 ... 117.5 pts

Re: Juniors

Mate Pavic is in Wimbledon 1/8 finals. It's really time for him to step up if he wants to become a good player in the future since he's 18 now.

Fan list: Cilic, Federer, Coric

P.S. Watch out for Donna Vekic and Borna Coric, 2020. Hopman cup winners. - posted in 2011, let's see if it happens

Re: Juniors

Yea really good tournament for him after a while of dry period. QF in singles and winner in doubles. Hope this will help him get some Wild cards to challengers or futures so he can gain some atp points since he's (by age) ready for senior tennis.

Fan list: Cilic, Federer, Coric

Re: Juniors

mate is having a nice run at the futures in great britain. he beat the junior wimbledon winner easily in round 2 of qualies. now he's through to round 2 of the main draw.

surprised he isn't in the doubles there, although i think he's already above the futures level there. he's the wimbledon doubles champ and has a challenger final under his belt already

my favorite was the worst number 3 player in the world
