Good luck to Ivo at Wimbledon. He has a good draw and is defending only 5 points so it's an excellent chance for him to move up the rankings, maybe even to a career-high spot.
Ivo has actually been very consistent over the past year and a half and has a lot of point spread out across the calendar. He's got a couple of 90 point tournaments which aren't even counting towards his ranking right now, so even if he'd lost 1st round at Nottingham it wouldn't really have had an impact on his ranking (he'd have been #22 either way). It was a great win though, and I think this does bump him up into the top 20 in the ATP points race (possibly for the 1st time) and gives him good confidence heading into Wimbledon. It would be awesome if he could have a big run to the quarters or semis and jump into top 10 ranking.

Re: ~Ivo Karlovic*["King Karlo"]*Thread!~

Credit to Karlovic, I never expected him to defend his ranking this season. Apart from repeating his grass success, he also did pretty well in the clay masters reaching two third rounds and a second round, those mandatory points really saved his ranking. And I agree the draw in Wimbledon gives a nice opportunity, if he can get enough rest in between matches he could make a GS run again finally.

When will Ivo ever play??? It's Wednesday, no rain delays, and they haven't even put him on for his 1st match! Crazy scheduling.

Hehe, it's normal, since he has a bye in the first round and 1/8 finals are usually played on Wednesday AND Thursday, so nothing weird From his half also Wawrinka hasn't played yet.

Yeah but Wawrinka does play today (Wednesday). I think they should have all 4 players who got 1st round byes play on Wednesday. That way none of them would have to play 4 days in a row. The way it's set up now, the only players in the whole tournament who would have to play 4 days in a row are Ivo and Youzhny. Really that's not what bugs me, it's having to wait so frigging long for him to play. It's been almost 3 weeks since he bombed out of Wimbledon. Assuming he's not too stale by the time he finally does get to play, there is very good potential for a good result here.

I guess this news isn't that new, but I just heard it, Ivo is definitely in the Olympics. The Croatian national olympic committee approved his entry.

I thought Wawrinka is playing tomorrow, would make more sense; one half on Wednesday, and one on Thursday, but anyway it's never been that the first 4 seeds play 1/8 final in the same day... So this isn't really a surprise. But I understand you, I'd also like to see him play, he should make the SF here

Fuck!!!! 13-11 in the 3rd set TB. The usual ups and downs of being an Ivo fan. On the bright side, unless Berdych wins the Swedish tournament he's playing this week, Ivo moves back into the top 20 at #20. I think last time he hit top 20 he kind of backed into it like this with a couple of losses.
