Re: Brydan Klein: Australia's Big Hope

Wow impressive stuff from Brydan, If he is able to win this tournament that puts a major twist into the US Open Wildcard. Brydan can actually be ranked higher than Groth Ebelthite and Lindahl if he wins this tournament and is not far behind Carsten and on top of all of that will be within reach of the top 200 if he does well in the next indian challenger. Unfortunately for Brydan Carsten Ball is still going in the US challenger. If Carsten matches Brydan's performance this week in challengers (which could be tough for Carsten to make at least semis) then I cannot see how they could possibly give it to Brydan over Carsten. Its only fair that he has been playing higher standard tennis than Brydan for most of the year. But Im very confident that Brydan will be in top 100 within the next year after this performance and wont need these wildcards.

Prediction: 2012 Davis Cup Team -
Bernard Tomic - Singles
Brydan Klein - Singles and Doubles
Greg Jones - Back up Singles player
Carsten Ball - Doubles

Re: Brydan Klein: Australia's Big Hope

Making it to the Semis here will do wonders for his ranking. It would be great if he could make the finals after such a great week. He has a great chance in making it there too; he is versing 317th ranked Conor Niland.

Good luck.

Re: Brydan Klein: Australia's Big Hope

Great posts from you all. I do tend to think that Carsten has performed really well this year and he is playing slightly higher level tournaments. That being said I am delighted to see Brydan performing well and that mob down in Melbourne must be breathing a big sigh of relief about this pair!

Re: Brydan Klein: Australia's Big Hope

Brydan Klein got knocked out in the Semifinal in a close 3 setter. Dissapointing to see him lose, but nonetheless, a great tournament from Brydan. He should move up to around 250-255 in the rankings on Monday. It's been a great week for all the Aussies, and it's still not over!

Good work and Niland went on to win the final so he was obviously in hot form. Well dome to Brydan.

Re: Brydan Klein: Australia's Big Hope

Brydan is into another quarter final this week in India. Should be enough to see him into the top 250

Hopefully he can finish the year in the top 200.

Re: Brydan Klein: Australia's Big Hope

I see Brydan got the last spot in US Open quallies. Has a seeded Argentine first round. 6 men in draw so good luck to Smeets,Ebelthite,Groth,Klein,Sirriani and Feeney. Anyone know why Lindahl pulled out?

Re: Brydan Klein: Australia's Big Hope

Lost 6-0, 6-4 to Berdych today...came out super nervous but started to get into the match from 3-0 down in the 2nd...broke Berdych and then pushed him. It wasn't until then that his feet started to move, was very sluggish probably due to the nerves

C'mon Australia!!!

Re: Brydan Klein: Australia's Big Hope

Yeah he played well in the second set. I was worried after the first set that it was going to be a Berdych smashing but Klein played some really good tennis after being broken in the second and was unlucky not to break back in the last game.

Re: Brydan Klein: Australia's Big Hope

Match was heading for a double bagel. then all of a sudden brydan came up with a set of fantastic shots to be competitive in second set. its a great learning curve for klein. He shouldn't be too frustrated with himself with that performance.

Yeh...needs to work on his body language though...he was trudging around the court with his shoulders slumped from early on, looking forward to seeing him progress though

C'mon Australia!!!

Re: Brydan Klein: Australia's Big Hope

Was really nervous for Brydan at 60 30 down. Loved his reaction when he won his first game. He played like a different person after that and matched Berdych game for game. Berdych played flawless for the first 9 games. Its a pity Brydan didn't take the break point opportunity at 5-4. Would have been interesting at 5 all. Good it was on TV.

Re: Brydan Klein: Australia's Big Hope

great work by Brydan! It's a pity this very exciting breakthrough for him is being overshadowed by other results but isn't it exciting to have 2 of our aussie male wildcards have big wins on the same day
