Re: Brydan Klein: Australia's Big Hope

Sorry my mistake - either TA originally posted the result incorrectly or I read it wrong! I thought Bryden would win that match, and did win it well. Had a close run against Jesse Levine, losing 7-6(4), 7-6(8). a good performance, unfortunate score-line.

Granby Round 1

Brydan Klein v Erik Chvojka (WC)

Head to head - Never played
Ranking - 295 (Klein) 596 (Chvojka)
Height - 6'0 (Klein) unknown (Chvojka)

I have to say he seems to be getting some pretty good challenger draws lately. Hopefully he can keep up the wins because he is winning a lot more now at a challenger level than he was in 2009.

Re: Brydan Klein: Australia's Big Hope

Klein is through to the 2nd round in Canada with a routine win over Chvojka. Its good to see him winning at challenger level again.

Re: Brydan Klein: Australia's Big Hope

Granby Quarterfinal

Brydan Klein v Go Soeda (2)

Head to head - never played
Ranking - 295 (Klein) 116 (Soeda)
Height - 6'0 (Klein) 5'10 (Soeda)
Latest meeting - never played
Last 5 matches - WWLWW (Klein) WWLWL (Soeda)
Last match score - 6-3 6-3 (Klein) 6-3 6-4 (Soeda)

I think Brydan has a good chance against Soeda, perhaps even a finals showing. Either way it is already a good week for Brydan and if he wins this match against Soeda he will get secured entry into next weeks Vancouver challenger main draw which would be very good for him.

Come on Brydan your not that far away from the top 250 now.

Re: Brydan Klein: Australia's Big Hope

Klein went down to Soeda, the No.2 seed 7-6(3), 6-1. Heading for Vancouver now, I presume?

Re: Brydan Klein: Australia's Big Hope

Playing in the Vancouver qualies, Bryden is into the finals. Should qualify if he plays to current form.

Re: Brydan Klein: Australia's Big Hope

He did which was great and he now has to play number three seed Dudi Sela which will be very tough for him.

Re: Brydan Klein: Australia's Big Hope

Unlucky Kleinie, a loss to Dudi Sela in three sets after stealing the 1st 7-6. then going down 61, 64.

Re: Brydan Klein: Australia's Big Hope

At Binghamton, Bryden lost in final round of qualifying to Canadian Klingemann, then got lucky loser, only to go own in straight sets to Rajeev Ram. Not much success for the Aussies today at Binghamton, only Gooch (who beat Millman)and Marinko (who got a lucky loser after Tursunov failed to show for his WC)winning. Lindahl, Feeney, Kelly (lucky loser) and Jonesie also played today and lost. So MM, Gooch and Ebden through, Ball losing yesterday.

Re: Brydan Klein: Australia's Big Hope

Klein is back playing the Australian Futures events like he has been for over half a decade now (including qualies). He lost in the semi-finals of the F6 last week and is seeded 2nd for the F7 this week (events in Darwin and Alice Springs respectively).

Re: Brydan Klein: Australia's Big Hope

So after a runner up showing in last weeks future where he lost to Erik Chvojka, he is this week into the semifinals of the Aussie future where he beat Chvojka in straights in the quarters. Brydan looks like a pretty good chance to win this title. Next up is Jarod Easton followed by either Michael Look or Sebastian Rieschick in the final. If Brydan can manage to win this week he'll be in almost the exact same position as he was this time last year. With one more future in New Zealand that Bydan has entered this year there is a possibility he will finish inside the top 200 with Millman, Ball, Luczak, Ebden and Matosevic.

He has been very clever about his scheduling this year and seems a lot more focused than probably he ever has been. With some form behind him it seems like he is sort of starting to live up to expectations. Next year should be interesting because he will have Brisbane, Sydney, Australian Open, Burnie CH and Caloundra CH with nothing to defend, could be an interesting year for Brydan in 2011.
