Re: Jamie Murray thread

That was a really good win today. The more experience Jamie gets at this level the better for him and for the brothers as a Davis Cup doubles pairing. Early days but things are looking up!

Murrays Fight to Win Doubles Game

Andy and Jamie Murray reached the second round of the doubles at the Qatar Open by beating Marcos Baghdatis and Stanislas Wawrinka in a tie-break.

The brothers fought back after losing the first set to win 4-6 6-1 10-5 under the new Champions tie-break format.

The new tie-break is played instead of the third set to speed matches up, with the winner being the first to 10.

Andy will return to singles action on Wednesday when he plays Belgian Christophe Rochus in round two.

The 19-year-old Scot, who is suffering from a bad cold, beat Italian Filippo Volandri in blustery and cold conditions on Monday.

And the fourth seed is hoping the weather improves on Wednesday.

"The conditions were tough for both of us. It was very cold and a bit of wind too," he said.

"I know coming from Scotland I should be used to such conditions but playing at night under the floodlights made it more difficult."

Good win boys The conditions in Doha are ridiculous this week, I saw Damm/Paes played their match in trousers

A doubles win against players ranked 16/17 is probably something the press will miss but it definitely bodes well for Davis Cup doubles were the pairings aren't quite so bonded. Excellent win

They just scraped it into the metro with the 1st round win - presumably because Andy is still in the singles.

Re: Jamie Murray thread

They take on Youzhny/Zimonjic later. I hope Andy won't be too tired from his singles match since he's not feeling 100 percent.

Re: Jamie Murray thread

For DC. If Andy and Jamie play, Holland's best two doubles players are ranked 46 and 132 so I really think we can win that if we go for them to but its a crucial tie because it would then if we lost rely on Boggo or someone else beating one of them.

Re: Jamie Murray thread

Shame Jamie didn't try to get into either of the ATP events this week (Sydney or Auckland). He would for sure have struggled with Sydney, but Auckland shouldn't have been a problem.

Re: Jamie Murray thread

"Jamie is going to play with Benjamin Becker at the Australian Open and after that he is hoping to team up with Jamie Delgado and establish a partnership with him. They get on very well on and off the court and when you are not in a position to be travelling with a coach, your partner has to be someone you have a good relationship with."

Re: Jamie Murray thread

Not wishing to offend any Delgado fans but from what I've seen of him in doubles, Jamie M isn't exactly getting an equal in terms of doubles ability. Jamie D in both previous Davis Cup doubles matches was pretty poor, esp. against the Ukraine were his lack of power and ability to put away simple volleys was obvious.

Also, if Delgado is now partnering Murray, who's going to be the regular partner of Auckland?
