I've only met Bogdanovich once - at the NTC - and he was really nice.

I understand the press gave him a hard time for all those wild cards at Wimbledon a few years ago. Funny that the LTA said at the start of 2010. That players hadnto be ranked in the top 250 to get a wildcard into that years main draw. Except that isnif your names Alex Bogdanovich - he was made to play qua lies and almost got thru - losing 5 in the 3rd to Mahut in final round.

Give the guy a chance - he's the best we've got after Murray - sonwhy crucify him before hes even started - the rest wouldn't do any better, if they did they'd be in the team ahead of him.

Good that he is back, although his current circumstances aren't particularly promising (recent injuries, and huge drop in rankings). As MB says, he is certainly the most naturally talented Briton behind Muzza, so it makes sense for him to be playing ahead of the others.

A good tie for him to get that first live win, although it is made slightly more complicated by the fact that he will be playing as a #2. We can't really afford for him to get nervous as Ward is not an absolute dead cert in any of his matches.

Should really be an easy 3-0 win by late Saturday afternoon...

...and, with the draw the easiest it could be for us, back into Group I for 2012.

Re: Alex Bogdanovic Back In GB Davis Cup Team!!!

Well that was very short-lived.

Unfortunately, that was probably his last chance to play considering that Muzza will be back in the squad for the next occasion(s). Ward will be the #2 player for future ties as long as his ranking is comfortably ahead of the others. The biggest problem is that these ties offer the most winnable matches for Boggo.

Assuming we get promotion back to Group I by the end of this season, I think it would be unwise to consider Boggo for the more difficult ties against the likes of Poland, Finland, Netherlands etc. It would be difficult for him to play matches against these better players knowing his record in Davis Cup. Had he got the chance to win a match or two in Group II it would have eased his mind a little.

Agree with you totally Horatio.

We gotta get behind our guys and Boggo's chance has probably gone now. (I just don't like some peoples attitudes to the guy - ok generally he's not good enough, but there's no need to hit a man when he's down!)

Looking forward to seeing how we get on. Ward and Baker need commending for the Turkey match - go GB!
