Re: The rising star Daniel Evans :)

He qualified for the USO! got through a pretty tricky draw with cipolla and menendez maceiras and an incredibly late finish to his 2nd round match. Now 2 days of well earned rest and hopefully he gets a good qualifying spot

spots I could see him winnng a match:

sijsling - igor hasn't been that great since his Wimbledon run. 2nd round would be against probably melzer

klizan - could definitely see him winning this one, I might even favor him to win this one. Mayer or Monaco await in 2nd round and could play andy if he got that far

pospisil - could definitely beat him. Maybe should have a while ago in that final. Second round would be against rafa

nishikori - kei has been abysmal for a while. He could take him if form continued and then tomic would probably be in the 2nd round . robredo is the seed so a 4th round might be possible here

Q (2nd round gulbis) - you never know with ernie. Raonic in the 3rd round

My top 2 picks are either klizan or kei , we'll see.

Re: The rising star Daniel Evans :)

Kudos to Daniel Evans for his fab win over Kei Nishikori at the US Open.

'Bad Boy Dan' is just what British Tennis needs- his talent is obviously there and if he can keep it up he could be a credible Number 2 player for GBR.

Re: The rising star Daniel Evans :)

Daniel Evans run at the US Open was impressive as he won five matches in all and played great tennis to beat Nishikori and Tomic against Robredo he had his chances but it was down to Robredo's experience in the end.

Evans should break the Top 150 after this and I project he will be around 142 in the world next week- he needs to keep going and believing his talent.

Well Done Dan.

Re: The rising star Daniel Evans :)

so is his season done then? I find it strange because he said he wanted to get to the AO directly but then he's stopped playing with like a month and a half left of possibility

He has been ridiculously poor since his US Open run.

Re: The rising star Daniel Evans :)

He tweeted about toothache in California then had a tooth removed; it might have affected his training regime for a bit but if he really wants direct entry to AO he could play some Futures before the end of the year and get points that way.
