Re: Chris Eaton cheering thread

This is the problem for many tennis players from Britain. Even if they have talent, some of them just show up for Queens or Wimbledon play a couple nice matches and dissapear off the face of the earth, hardly any improvement in ranking and come back again for a couple nice matches at Queens and Wimbledon next year. In the next 12 months, he must aim for top 200-250.

All Italian Players

Especially Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini

Juan Martin Del Potro

Roger Federer

Thomas Berdych

Fernando Verdasco

Re: Chris Eaton cheering thread

Does anyone know what his schedule is like for the near future?
I know he's been Federer's hitting partner but he did also mention Newport and even his 661 ranking would have got him in qualies there and he's not in the draw

Andy Murray, Jonny Marray
Jamie Baker, Ross Hutchins, Richard Bloomfield, Colin Fleming
Roddick, Goffin, Karlovic, Inglot, Isner
Brown, Brands, Tsonga

Re: Chris Eaton cheering thread

I'm very pleased Chris got through to the second round at Manchester. Losing his first match after Wimbledon might have dented his confidence a bit. Anything beyond the second round will be a bonus in only his second challenger event of the year. I think he'll make the quarters okay and has a chance at getting to the semi finals.

Re: Chris Eaton cheering thread

Nice to see Chris winning his first round match in New Delhi in straight sets. 6-2 7-5. It would be good if he could progress just one more round to the quarters, but I think Josh Goodall might prove a bit too difficult for him. Still, if he plays well, he has a chance. Either way, it is a shame that one brit has to loose to the other.

Chris lost to Goodall

Should be winning matches like that if he is seriously considering a climb up the rankings

Re: Chris Eaton cheering thread

It's true, he needs to win more than just the first round of a challenger to really get ahead, or else when his 50 points from Wimbledon drop off next year he'll be back to playing futures. I think he might have been able to beat Bloomfield last week, but he didn't. But when it came to Josh Goodall, he wasn't very likely to win. Josh has gone onto the semi final now. On the positive side, Chris is beating higher ranked players than he was before and he's picking up more experience. Hopefully he'll take it one round further next week at New Delhi, but it also depends on the luck of the draw.

Re: Chris Eaton cheering thread

Well done to Chris for winning through against Prakash Amritraj 7-6(5) 6-1 to reach the second round in New Delhi. Next up is Tsung-Hue Yang, a qualifier, so hopefully Chris will have a good shot at winning that match and reachng the QFs. He may well not be top 20 material, but I'm so glad he didn't just fade away and loose all his matches after Wimbledon. A nice slow stready rise up the rankings is nice to see.

Re: Chris Eaton cheering thread

Lost to Yang.

I think Chris is gonna be one of those players who will hover outside the top 250 for the rest of his career.

Re: Chris Eaton cheering thread

His match against Yang was a close one and I'd imagine after a flight like that he was very disappointed. I'd like to see how he does between now and the end of the season before I write him off. Maybe after Wimbledon he was feeling a bit over confident. Hard to know what's going through someone elses mind. If he can make top 200 and stay there for a few years, he'll still have a decent career. Not everyone can be Tim or Andy. It's tough at the top.
