He pulled out of Halle, just as his beloved grass court season is on

Re: Michael Berrer

Berrer also out Hope he will be back in Wimbledon, he could gain so much points in those 3 tournaments (Halle SF like Becker now, Eastbourne QF because seeded and Wimbledon would depend on the draw) . Now Schwank is seeded.

From his own homepage:
"Ich bin zweimal am Tag bei meinem Pysiotherapeuten Robert Schmidt in Stuttgart und arbeite hart daran, dass ich in Wimbledon wieder 100% fit bin. Im Moment denke ich, dass ich nächste Woche in Eastbourne noch nicht spielen kann, da mein Knöchel noch nicht mitmacht"
"Ich hoffe, dass ich trotz der fehlenden Matches auf Rasen dennoch ein gutes Turnier in Wimbledon spielen kann!"

He says that he can´t play Eastbourne and that he´s to times a day at his physio Robert Schmidt and hopes that he´s fit until Wimbledon and that he can play a good tournament there without having any match practice.

He got his injury during a training session with his 1st round opponent Becker in Halle.

Re: Michael Berrer

Michi actually has a good draw at New Haven.
1st round bye ---> 2nd round Gil (claycourter) / Korolev (he crushed him on clay at MC!!!) ---> Fish / Beck / Marchenko
But I´m expecting Fish to withdraw so it´s a good draw. And even if he plays he may be tired / wants to tank so that´s a good shot at at least the QFs I think. And in general the upper half is much weaker than the other one so he could do sth "big" here.

Re: Michael Berrer

Is he injured? After his loss in the Zagreb final, he pulled out of Marseille, Rotterdam and now Dubai...

Re: Michael Berrer

Michi finished 2011 17-22 in ATP competition and made three challenger QF's. He finished at exactly 100 in the final rankings, but didn't make the trip to Australia as he was with his long time girlfriend for the birth of their first child. Michi made the semifinals in his attempt to defend his final from Zagreb in 2011, made the QF of Heilbronn challenger, and qualified for Dubai and took Murray to three sets.

He's currently provisionally ranked #114. He only defends 35 points until the French Open cutoff so he's in a good position to make the MD there, which is important as he's defending R3 points. Michi will be playing the Sarajevo and Bath challengers in the two weeks coming up, so hopefully he can manage to wins some matches and regain a top 100 spot. Both are indoors so it should be a great opportunity for Michi to go deep in both events.

Re: Michael Berrer

Michi lost in R1 of Sarajevo in three sets to a qualifier. He didn't like the court surface and admittedly played a bad match, as his mind wasn't in the right place for playing tennis.

He should be much more comfortable going into this week in Bath. He plays Jesse Huta Galung in the first round. A deep run here is very important for Michael as he tries to attain a top 100 ranking in time for the French Open cutoff so hopefully he can start of the tournament with a victory!

Re: Michael Berrer

Michi won 6-3 6-4 over Huta Galung and played a very good match. His second round will be against qualifier Marek Michalicka on Thursday, so it's another good opportunity for a victory. Hopefully he rests well and brings his form in his first round match on Thursday.

Re: Michael Berrer

Michi made the SF's of Bath, winning over Michalicka in the second round and Grigelis in the QF, before losing to Jan Mertl 6-2 4-6 3-6 in the semis. He had a long match the day before vs Grigelis and was tired at the end of his SF match.

With the result, he's up to #111 in the world. Overall it was a disappointing two weeks, though, as he didn't gain too many points to help with his ranking situation. Hopefully he can start winning as the tour goes to clay.

Re: Michael Berrer

Michi will be playing Casablanca qualifying this weekend as a means to get his ranking high enough to make the RG cutoff.

Hopefully he'll be able to qualify, or better yet, make the MD automatically.
