Re: Benjamin Becker

Benni made debut as DC!
He lost 7-6 4-6 2-6 3-6.
He played pretty good 1st set,i felt from livescore.
Did anynoe see that on tv?
Did he put a shirt same as Boris Becker's on ? I read German web. I'm not sure.
He has a rivers single match tomorrow against Ancici, also tough player as same as Ljubicic.
today, Waske and Kohlmann,good luck!!

sorry, I write again, can't find how to delete.

Unfortunately the last match of the encounter between Germany and Croatia wasn't shown on German tv and therefore I don't know what happened in Bennis match against Cilic.

He mentioned after his match against Ljubicic that he was nervous because of his first match in DC and the whole situation.

I think it is always hard to concentrate for a match when the encounter of DC has already been decided and maybe Benni was just a bit lost in thoughts in his last match.

Yes, I agree. It is so difficult to keep calm first time in DC.
This is just biginning in DC for him.

Re: Benjamin Becker

Benni's intervier appeared in Tennis Week again.
short questions and short ansers.
Benni likes franch toast in berakfast.
it is interesting !

http://www.sportsmediainc.com/tennis...&bannerregion=

Tennis Week: Age you started playing tennis?

Benjamin Becker: "Eight."

Tennis Week: First tennis memory?

Benjamin Becker: "Watching Boris Becker play the Australian Open when I was eight-years-old. Against Ivan Lendl, 1-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 [smiles]. That's when I started playing.:

Tennis Week: Tennis inspiration?

Benjamin Becker: "Boris Becker."

Tennis Week: Favorite all-time player?

Benjamin Becker: "It's a tough one. The one I followed the most was Boris Becker, so I would have to say him. I was also a fan of Sampras and Federer now. So I don't really have one guy. But Boris was my inspiration. [Did you meet him yet?] No."

Tennis Week: Best match you've seen?

Benjamin Becker: "The best match that comes to mind is the recent one I watched — Moya and Baghdatis in Sydney."

Tennis Week: Pre-match meal?

Benjamin Becker: "Pasta with tomato sauce."

Tennis Week: Pre-match superstition?

Benjamin Becker: "I only tie my shoes on the court [smiles]."

Tennis Week: Typical breakfast?

Benjamin Becker: "French toast."

Tennis Week: Toughest part of being a pro tennis player?

Benjamin Becker: "The travel. And being by yourself."

Tennis Week: Favorite music?

Benjamin Becker: "I like all kinds, but bands — Guns 'N Roses, Metallica, and I like a little rap."

Tennis Week: Favorite film?

Benjamin Becker: "Scarface."

Tennis Week: Last book you read?

Benjamin Becker: "It was actually Angels & Demons from Dan Brown."

Tennis Week: What car do you drive?

Benjamin Becker: "I don't own a car [smiles]."

Tennis Week: Where do you train?

Benjamin Becker: "In Miami or in Fort Lauderdale. (What place?) In Key Biscayne or on public courts in Pompano Beach."

Tennis Week: Training routine?

Benjamin Becker: "Usually two hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon. With some fitness involved too."

Tennis Week: Toughest man you faced?

Benjamin Becker: "Federer."

Tennis Week: Why?

Benjamin Becker: "He's too good."

Tennis Week: Last place you went on vacation?

Benjamin Becker: "I went on a cruise a year ago. We stopped in Mexico, Florida and we stopped in Cayman Islands."

Tennis Week: If you had to miss the next Slam, who would you like to see win it, if you couldn't play?

Benjamin Becker: "French Open, I would like to see Haas win it. Because he's German. [You're friends?] We'll see, maybe I will be but I don't know him that much because I just started playing. I always go for the Germans, so hopefully he can win it."

Re: Benjamin Becker

I think this dude is freaking amazing. Although he lost to Ljubijic at the Davis Cup, he was busting out inside-out forehands, lobs and great court positioning. To me, because of the way he takes the ball early and places the ball so well, he reminds me a little of Martina Hingis. I throw that comparison around a lot, but aside from some of Ben's shots, the way he positions his body when he prepares to strike the ball resembles Hingis' preparation before hitting the ball. I'm a fan. And it's even more impressive that this is only his second or third year on tour. *applause*
