Hey guys, do you ever take a peek at Rainer's fansite? I check out the German version pretty regularly (the translation on the English version can be a bit dodgy at times). Anyway, every so often there's a message from Rainer on it, and he posted yesterday (link: http://www.rainer-schuettler.de/news.php?content=return
). I have to say,
to him for his honesty. For those of you who don't speak German, he apologises for his poor performance on Tuesday and says he doesn't know himself what is going so wrong every time. He expected to go much further in Paris, at least as far as last year. He knows what he's doing wrong in his matches (too passive, not making use of the chances he gets). And good to know: he says he will never give up in a match, even if it looks that way. I know that when I saw the 0-4 in the third set against Malisse, I thought he had given up, but I gladly stand corrected
. I usually see his yelling at himself as a bad sign too, but not so either - "it's a way of letting out frustration in the hope that things will improve. When you play in front of the public, you can't do that, otherwise you would not be able to face yourself in the mirror the next day".
Fight on, Rainer, we'll still support you!
