he lost 6-1 0-6 1-6 ...
the first set was almost perfect, no UEs and some moments of brilliance, Murray wasn't quite there though
not sure what happened then, Murray picked up his game and Rainer got impatient and started hitting errors
but at least he started 2008 on a winning note, GL in Australia
As you said Jogi, a brilliant first set and then Rainer got out of patience. He made to many unforced errors and the number of first serves decreased. At least we could watch him on TV He looked very healthy and fit and the first set shows that he can keep up with younger players.
he finally wins a match at a GS again
that was a difficult match, he won the first 2 sets quite easily and then was ahead in the third with a break but couldn't manage to serve it out, and lost a bit unlucky in the TB, in the 4th he served for it at 5-3 but got broken, thank god he broke back immediately
keep going Rainer and stay healthy please!
And he lost in 1st round to Teimuraz Gabashvilli 7:6 4:6 2:6. It was an awfull match with a high number of unforced errors from both sides. Rainer was far away from playing good tennis. That was a huge step back to bad times.
Rainer was 6:3 ahead in the TB. He wastetd all of this set points. The first 2 on Darcis serve and one on his own. After that Darcis had MP at 7:6 on his own serve. Rainer saved it with a perfect forehand winner down the line after a long rally. That was a great shot under pressure and it was very close to the line. Darcis had another MP on 8:7 and Rainers serve. At least Rainer could finish the TB 10:8. I did not belive he would come through but very well done Rainer!
Rainer lost vs Bolleli in Zagreb. 3-6 2-6. It seems he's back to playing terrible tennis lately.
