Björn Phau wurde was born on 4th of october 1979 in Darmstadt [south of Frankfurt]. His father is from Indonesia and doctor of chemnistry. He met Björn's German mother when he studied at Darmstadt univeristy. Björn has one younger sister. Her name is Aileen.

Björn Phau started playing tennis when he was 4 years old. When he was 18 he won the German youth championship outdoors and indoors.
In that year he also became a member of the Boris Beckers "Mercedes Junior Team".

Now, Björn ist practicing together with other professional tennis players with his coach Klaus Langenbach in Düsseldorf.

Björn's favourite surface is hardcourt. When he was a teenager he admired Michael Chang for his agility, Andre Agassi for his precise groundstrokes and Boris Becker for his mental strength.

I got a mail from Bjorn tonight.
He won't paly in Tokyo AIG OPEN. He returned to his home.
Japanese fans are disappointed at his announce.
