no way. he can't get past Tommy and Kiwi in singles and he has to reeeally improve his doubles skills to kick Waske/ Kohlmann out of the team.

But he could be a good "Reservespieler". Surely a better one than Mayer and Schüttler...

I think he already has improved much in doubles. He played finals in Munich and quaters in Roland Garros. He has become a solid doubles player and he also is a backup for singles.

yes, but who knows how he would play with Waske or Kohlmann. So he really is the 2nd to 3rd backup in doubles behind Waske/Kohlmann, Waske/ Haas. In singles I think he comes right after Tommy and Kiwi.

I agree. There are better doubles players
if Björn wants to play Davis Cup than either in singles or in a dead doubles rubber... but most important is that he comes into the team!

I would not go to a Davis Cup match I think... too less tennis and too many people But I am pretty sure you will have a lot of fun there

Re: Björn Phau

Kühnen said that players, who play Beijing the week before Daviscup, won't get nominated. Phau is on that list. So either Mayer or Kohlschreiber should play the second singles.

Phau is going to beijing, and if Heineken open is still here, his next stop after Beijing is must be Shanghai.
