Re: The Mihail Zverev Cheering Thread

Mischa is in France, hopefully he is recovered from his rib ailment from Munich, here is the draw for Bordeaux:

http://www.atpworldtour.com/posting/2010/3824/mds.pdf

Mischa is playing Jan Herynch in R1, and would play the winner of Malisse/Ouanna in R2. He really can't ask for a much better draw than this at this high of quality challenger, so hopefully he makes the most of it and goes deep here in Bordeaux.

Good luck, Mischa!

Re: The Mihail Zverev Cheering Thread

It's funny that he lost to poor man's Zverev Begemann. Mischa still has Stuttgart and Hamburg, then it goes back to the challengers.

Re: The Mihail Zverev Cheering Thread

Anyone knows how he's doing? He retired from his last two tournaments (upper leg and back). Maybe it was fatigue after weeks of intensive play. I hope he does well in 2011 and continues his comeback to the top 50.

Re: The Mihail Zverev Cheering Thread

Could not watch Doris's post

Mischa has ended 2011 for the first time outside of top-100 (number 211).

Many many defeats even though he finished the year with a good result, by reaching the final in Geneva challenger.

But started 2012 losing to Lacko in first round of qualies in Doha.

Disappointing year for a good potential player like him.

What has been his problem actually ?

useless old guy

Re: The Mihail Zverev Cheering Thread

2011 marked the first time since 2006 that Mischa did not finish within the year-end top 100 of the rankings. After a poor 2010 through September which saw his ranking fall as low as #159, Mischa qualified and made the finals of Metz, qualified and made the 3rd round of Shanghai and qualified and made the 2nd round of Montpellier during the fall to finish at #82 in the world.

Unfortunately, 2011 was even less successful for Mischa, as he struggled with back and wrist issues and only once won back-to-back matches (two qualifying matches in Rotterdam) and didn't do so in any MD event until November. In back to back events near the end of the season Mischa qualified and defeated Niland in the first round of Eckental and qualified and made the finals of Geneva challengers, raising his ranking from a low of #280 to finish #211 in the world, his lowest finish since 2005.

2012 has been much more successful at the beginning of the season in comparison to his last two, with only two opening match losses thus far on the year. Mischa's best result prior to this week was qualifying and winning a match in the Heilbronn challenger, but this week has been a breakout tournament for him, as he has made the finals of Le Gosier without losing a set! He has defeated Blake, Kunitsyn and Rochus the past three rounds to make the finals, three of his best wins in over a year. He plays David Goffin for the title, which would raise him inside the top-165. GL in the finals, Mischa!

Re: The Mihail Zverev Cheering Thread

Mischa unfortunately lost in the finals of Le Gosier to Goffin 2-6 2-6 but all in all, it was an awesome week for him and one he can build on in the future. With the result, Mischa moved his ranking to provisional #180.

This week he retired due to exhaustion in a rematch with Kunitsyn in Tallahassee down 2-6 1-1. Le Gosier is a very humid, hot place and it's hard to adjust to different conditions so quickly as Mischa had to do here. Hopefully he rests up well and is able to take the confidence gained from his successes in Guadeloupe to reach greater heights!

Re: The Mihail Zverev Cheering Thread

Mischa again retired, this time in Houston qualifying this past weekend vs Kosakowski down 6-3 3-6 0-3. Hopefully he can recover from whatever health issues are currently ailing him and he's able to get back to playing competitively.

He's on the entry list for Sarasota next week, hopefully he's able to play!
