Re: Philipp Petzschner

Petzschner is playing his 9th doubles final in 2005 at the moment.

More important is that he got a late entry in Helsinki and will play Janko Tipsarevic in the first round.

Re: Philipp Petzschner

Helsinki
2R Cakl d. Petzschner 7-6(3) 6-4
---
QF Kas/Petzschner d. Kohlschreiber/Koubek 6-2 0-6 7-6(4)

Only one chance left for him this year after this disappointing loss - he can play next week in Sunderland or Prague.

Re: Philipp Petzschner

Cakl isn't that easy, I saw him demolish Carlsen this year at Estoril so my predictions weren't really skyrocketing.. even though I still thought Philipp would win.

The points gone from those two straight QFs at challengers last year will get him down, no? I think they were Eckental and Wolfsburg.

It was only Eckental. Wolfsburg (QF) and Heilbronn (SF) have been in February 2005 I think.

Helsinki Doubles Final:
Kohlmann/Allegro d. Kas/Petzschner 4-6 6-1 6-4

Sunderland 25,000 + H
1R Philipp Petzschner - Ivo Heuberger

You're right there, I was confused for a little. I always confuse challengers on the same country.

Re: Philipp Petzschner

Next tournament is in week 50, when he is defending champion at the German Championship. Florian Mayer is the big favourite there. I've made a thread in the exhibitions forum.

At the end, Philipp finished the year with a career highest rank 108 in doubles, but is only 302 in singles. He earned over 60 points in the first 5 weeks of the year!!!, but only about 50 in the rest of the year. It really sucks that he is always like 50 ranks away from the GS-qualifying. But I hope he'll will/can play AusOpen though. Last year the cut was at 430.
