This is such a crazy situation - even more for Peya, of course, and I'm for ever thankful Philipp felt forced to play Vienna because he didn't want to let Alex down, but they always make so many sacrifices and weird things to keep playing together.

(Can you give me the link of Peya's "blog" again, please, JMG? I can't find it anymore.)

He could write a bit more imo. Nothing since Melbourne.

Yeah, I think so too. He is in the Davis Cup squad.

Re: Philipp Petzschner

Philipp is out of Davis Cup (replaced by Kas). Unfortunately they also got a zero pointer for Delray Beach.

Re: Philipp Petzschner

What a bummer, he loves DC.
http://de.eurosport.yahoo.com/020320...etzschner.html
He had first said after his withdrawal in Delray Beach that he would still be able to play DC.

Re: Philipp Petzschner

Yes, he said that after his singles retirement, but not after his doubles withdrawal. I hope he will be ready for IW at least. They will lose the DC doubles now, but overall it shouldn't be a problem for Germany.

Picasso is now German number 1 in the doubles ranking for the first time:

Sad for Philipp but I don't think they will lose now. Kas is a very good doubles player, too.

Re: Philipp Petzschner

Yes, I've seen him many times. But my prediction is that Kas/Schüttler would be clear underdog against Knowle/Melzer. The only positive thing about all this is that Petzschner won't lose another DC match.

Quote:

Re: Philipp Petzschner

He withdrew from IW.

I hope he will be back for the clay season at least or even for Miami. We have seen often enough that wrist injuries need more time to heal than expected at the beginning.

Re: Philipp Petzschner

He withdrew from Sunrise and Miami! So our next hope is Casablanca.

He didn't commit to Napoli (2nd week of Miami) and Barcelona (500), which is the only ATP tournament 2 weeks after Casablanca. I hope that doesn't mean that he won't be ready by then. He wasn't on the tentative list of Monte Carlo either.

One site (tennis.de) wrote something about a back injury, but is this news really reliable? I don't know.

Official reason for his withdrawal from Miami is back injury. But as far as I know he has a wrist injury

Re: Philipp Petzschner

:-( Thanks a lot for the news, he definitely needs a blog or a website, it's frustrating to have no info about him.

On a brighter note, he's nominated for the "Newcomer of the Year" (together with Chardy, Grannolers, Nishikori and Schwank):
