Re: Philipp Petzschner

Oh my God. He was on fire on his FH in the 3rd set. Plus the usual strong serving and volleying. And Lalo was throwing tantrums, that was just awesome.

Hm, I missed that. Will they also stream the final?

EDIT:

They will.

Too bad that I didn't know about that sooner. I wonder if I should invest the 5 Euro for one month. Maybe they'll also stream Basel?

Final showdown in doubles: 7:6; 6:7

After giving away a 3:1 lead in 2nd set.

Now it`s clear, Philipp hardly has any rest before tomorrow`s singles final.

A pity final will start already at 2pm. 3 oder 4 pm would be more fine.

And no live coverage at german Eurosport. Really a shame. Just a brief coverage after it all at 7.pm

Edit:

At least they finally won the match in doubles 10:5

So great chance for Philipp tomorrow to get the "doubles crown"

Re: Philipp Petzschner

Lopez / Verdasco lost their last six points with their serve

Congrats Philipp for beating Lopez twice in the same day

Re: Philipp Petzschner

He made it both finals in Vienna. What a suprise. It was thought that it only had to win either. It is Mr.Philipp though it is made to win both and to do

Then, it is a victory by singles and the doubles. Good luck at the finals.

Defeating Lalo twice in a couple of hours, that's !

I don't think that will be an issue because he will still be much fresher than his opponent! He was looking fresh as a daisy at the end of his match yesterday, as if he had hardly broken a sweat. And Monfils was really exhausted, I'm sure it wasn't just show.

"Beste Tennis-Woche meines Lebens"
Was springt beim Turniersieg raus?

The German with Austrian humour
Who would have thought? A German player becoming a fans favourite in Vienna. When Philipp Petzschner will face crowd favourite Monfils for the title today, many Austrians won't know whom they should cheer for.
Not only his tennis fills the crowd with enthusiasm, but also his (for a German player unexpected) humour. "My humour probably is more popular in Austria than in Germany", he says.
During his on-court interview after the match he made fun of the result of the Austrian football team against Faroe ("At least you scored a goal"). And in his press conferences he talks with journalists about games and bets he has made with his training partner Peya. Clearly, Petzschner is good for tennis.
Only the German media aren't aware of their new shooting star and he's still unknown there. He sounds a bit bitter because there aren't any German journalists in Vienna this week and says German media don't talk about tennis anymore and it's all about football, formula 1 and boxing.
But they will probably become aware of him if he keeps playing in full flow (I don't know how to translate that, he always uses the word "flow" to describe how he is feeling atm). "I'm doing instinctively everything right on the court at the moment. It is for sure the best tennis week of my life. No matter what will happen in the final."
His bets with Peya have already cost him 3 bottles of champagne this week. "One for the semi, one for the final and one for the top 100 I will enter next week." If he wins the title, he'll have to rent a suite to celebrate with his teammates.

Re: Philipp Petzschner

You're welcome. The champagne bets are the explanation for his celebration at the end, I guess it is supposed to mean they'll open another bottle?
It's too bad you couldn't see him yesterday, guys, he was playing out of his mind at the end.

After having watched both semis, I found Philipp better yesterday, but Gaël was much better against Sexy and Gonzo than against Kohli, so he can totally step up his game again in the final.

Philipp means he expects a slow, tactical final because they both are counter players.
