Re: Philipp Petzschner

Is rain expected tomorrow morning or is that how they usually do it in Tokyo, playing both Indoors and Outdoors?

Re: Philipp Petzschner

Aaaaargh.

On a brighter note, he's ranked #116 now in singles (and #43 in doubles, "career high").

Re: Philipp Petzschner

It really looks like there are no doubles matches before Thursday. What a tournament is this? If they win the first round, he has almost no chance to play Vienna.

Re: Philipp Petzschner

There is no method because it is a championship of the outdoors. All players who do not put it in the center court are the same situations. So, I think that Philip also understands enough

By the way, It changes to a Japanese pair by Spanish pair abstaining.
Of course, sweeping victory.

Do not defeat at rain

Re: Philipp Petzschner

Poor tournament for him and terrible serving against Stadler.

I checked the Tokyo airport website and there seems to be no way to arrive in Vienna before 4pm Saturday, so I don't think it's possible for him to play. The 60 points from Rennes will go off, but the situation remains the same. He will have to earn about 150 points in the remaining tournaments if he wants to get direct entry for Melbourne.

edit

not before 7pm Q1: Petzschner vs Oswald

Q1 Petzschner d. Oswald 7-6(5) 6-1
QR Petzschner - Pless

1R Petzschner/Peya - Calleri/Canas

He lost to Pless one year ago in Kolding right after the title in Rennes.

Re: Philipp Petzschner

If Philipp is finally able to play a match consistent in a whole again Pless should have no chance as Philipp is the more talented player and as his game suits more to this kinda faster surface.

Besides Pless is in a big slump lately and his whole year 2008 looks more like a nightdream.

Re: Philipp Petzschner

I missed the 1st set, so it was quite fun to follow!

As for his MD slot:
1. that way he'll play on Center Court (are there livestreams for Vienna?)
2. he leads 1-0 in the h2h with Wawrinka according to ITF.

Re: Philipp Petzschner

OMG, what a torture it was to follow without a livestream. I've been watching that stupid SB through my fingers since he was up 5-3 in the third set. I'm still a bit scared it might be a mistake of the scoreboard and it will jump back to 6-6 in the TB...

Re: Philipp Petzschner

What a chance against Hernych now. A win would mean 70 points!!! But at least 35 points are in the bag already.

Laola1.at had a live ticker with some little infos.

Re: Philipp Petzschner

Phew, what a nailbiter. After blowing that break lead in the deciding set, I was sure that he would lose the match. Glad that he proved me wrong.
