Re: Philipp Petzschner

This would be in London next year. I think London is a great Masters cup venue for doubles, I'm sure there would be many spectators.

I remember that Kas once said that it annoys him when he sees the same guy each day the whole year and that's why he likes to play with different partners. But I guess if they play the Grand Slams, as many Masters events as possible and some optionals, it should be possible. There are teams like Fyrstenberg/Matkowski, who didn't go deep in any Grand Slam this year and still have a good chance.

It looks like the year is over for Kas/Petzschner. Kas will stay in Europe and play Bucharest, Metz, Vienna and Basel with Wassen, Gicquel, Kohlschreiber and again Kohlschreiber.

Philipp is already 2nd next alternate in Beijing.

Re: Philipp Petzschner

Philipp Petzschner GER [3] vs. Michel Koning NED
Denis Matsukevitch RUS vs. Harel Levy ISR
Guillermo Alcaide ESP vs. Noam Okun ISR [Q]
Alex Bogomolov Jr. USA [Q] vs. Simon Stadler GER [7]

He has negative records against Koning, Levy and Stadler. Koning is a big serve mug like Guccione, so it can go the wrong way if Philipp doesn't show up tomorrow.

Re: Philipp Petzschner

What an embarrassing h2h.
I've never seen Levy play, why can Philipp only win a couple of games every time they play, what kind of game has Levy??

Re: Philipp Petzschner

I saw him for sure in Daviscup this year vs Sweden and last year in Bangkok vs Udomchoke and I can't remember much of his style. He's really nothing special, maybe like Benneteau more an attacking player, but not really consistent from the baseline and hits quite a lot of errors. I don't see why he would be a bad match up. Well, at least he is a former Toronto finalist.

Today Petzschner/Peya lost 16 46 to Gorban/Labadze, I guess Peya wanted to leave for Davis Cup.

Re: Philipp Petzschner

Maybe Levy's game is comparable to Peya's? They have some similarities for sure.

Re: Philipp Petzschner

w39 Bangkok
w40 Tokyo
w41 Vienna (Q)

So he wants to play Tokyo and Vienna qualifying in the same week. That also means he won't defend his title in Rennes.

Re: Philipp Petzschner

At least he will play on Center Court that way.

I can't even remember when his last good win in singles was, it seems we haven't celebrated for ever. Beck in the USO qualies, but well...

Edit: Serra in Amersfoort was OK, I guess, I had forgotten about that one.

Re: Philipp Petzschner

Last year bwin covered the second court as well. Would be nice if they did that again.

I like this:

(3)Lindstedt/Petzschner - Udomchoke/Wachiramanowong
Djokovic/Djokovic - Santoro/Tsonga

Lindstedt has a damn good serve and these courts are very fast. They should win the first match.

Re: Philipp Petzschner

Solid performance, though I was disappointed with his volleying for 1.5 sets.

Maybe we'll get another match against Zverev now. Well he can't serve as bad as he did in Aachen last year.

No doubles tomorrow, so we can expect an early singles match on Thursday.

Re: Philipp Petzschner

"I didn't feel comfortable on court," Safin told reporters. "Unfortunately, I didn't win, the other guy was better than me."
Petzschner, ranked 131st, said the win was one of the biggest of his career.
"He was my idol, I watched him win the Australian Open," he said. "He's a great guy, a little crazy.
"I didn't miss many today and served really good...I played smart."
