Re: Philipp Petzschner

Petzschner d. Phillips 6-2 4-2 ret.
30-30 was the last score I saw in the seventh game on Phillips' serve.

Now against Daniel Brands.

Done, 3-6 6-4 6-1. I didn't follow it live, was it close in the 2nd set?
Anyway, well done, Cruciat now.

Re: Philipp Petzschner

I was at the match. Lucky escape for Philipp one must say. He was really struggling with his serve mainly due to the wind. Brands was playing okay but nothing Philipp couldn't have coped with under normal circumstances. But Philipp decided to complain all the time instead than at 4-3 in the second Brand played a bad game and let Philipp back into to match. The next service game Philipp saved like 5 or 6 breakpoints of which Brands should have converted at least one. After that it was an easy match for Philipp.

Re: Philipp Petzschner

Sounds like some of the wins in Heilbronn this year, when he needed so long to gain the momentum.

Cruciat isn't someone who hits errors and his results were very good so far. This will be a difficult match, but the best of 5 should be an advantage.

Re: Philipp Petzschner

Petzschner d. Cruciat 6-4 5-7 5-7 6-2 6-3

Good to see that he was so good in the last two sets after wasting a *4-1 in the third set. In those two sets Cruciat had no chance at all on Philipp's serve.

Tomorrow we will get the draws, singles and doubles.

Re: Philipp Petzschner

Bad luck:
Petzschner vs Lee
Petzschner/Peya - (4)Bhupathi/Knowles

Lee is tough and Llodra or Ancic would come in the second round.

Re: Philipp Petzschner

Hmmm, I thought his draw is OK, he can totally beat Lee (who hasn't done much lately and retired in Queen's, is he really fit?)
As for the 2nd round, well, he had to play a seeded player anyway, so it could have been worse than Llodra.

Re: Philipp Petzschner

Do you really think Llodra has a chance? The problem is Ancic, who would never lose against Philipp. Llodra in the second would be okay of course, but I don't see many seeds who are better than Ancic.
