Re: Philipp Petzschner

Aachen Challenger
1R (Q)Philipp Petzschner (GER) - Wesley Moodie (RSA) Tuesday:12.00
---
1R D.Meffert/P.Petzschner (GER) d. A.Motti/T.Popp (ITA/GER) 6-4 6-2

It works now. The quality is not even that bad, but the camera angle is. I hope the doubles QF on Wednesday will be on center court too, because their opponents could be Kas/Korolev, which would be very interesting.

Weak match! None of his matches on webcam, only the doubles tomorrow.

Re: Philipp Petzschner

Aachen Challenger
QF (2)Kerr/J.Murray (AUS/GBR) d. Meffert/Petzschner (GER) 6-3 7-6(6)

It was nice to watch, but he shouldn't play with Meffert again.

Eckental Challenger
Q1 Philipp Petzschner (GER) d. (8)Tomislav Peric (CRO,409) 7-6(4) 6-3
Q2 Philipp Petzschner (GER) - Dmitri Sitak (RUS,729)

Don't expect much from Eckental. In week 46 he's alternate #8 for Caloundra (and alternate #40 for Helsinki), in week 47 alternate #10 for Kawana. I hope he will play those two tournaments in Australia.

1R (3)Meffert/Petzschner d. (WC)Pest/Waske 4-6 6-4 10-7

Again a bad draw, but his form should be good enough!

2R (Q)Philipp Petzschner (GER) - Jeremy Chardy (FRA)

It looks like a good chance to make his first challenger QF since 02/2005.

QF (Q)Philipp Petzschner (GER) - (8)Roko Karanusic (CRO)

H2H is 0-1, the match was on the same surface. With another win he should get a SE for Helsinki.

Re: Philipp Petzschner

Eckental Challenger
QF (Q)Philipp Petzschner (GER) d. (8)Roko Karanusic (CRO) 7-5 3-1 ret.
SF (Q)Philipp Petzschner (GER) - (5)Michael Berrer (GER)
--
QF (3)Meffert/Petzschner d. Cilic/Dodig 6-0 6-3
SF (1)Goodall/Hutchins d. (3)Meffert/Petzschner 4-6 7-5 10-8

This is going to be a great finish in 2006 for him. He's back to rank 350 now and can jump to 320 and 290 with two more wins.

Re: Philipp Petzschner

Doubles (best 14 in 2006)

90 Marseille w/C.Kas (SF)
80 Heilbronn w/C.Kas (W)
80 Besancon w/C.Kas (W)
75 Wimbledon w/O.Rochus (2R)
75 US Open w/C.Kas (2R)
55 Stockholm w/C.Kas (QF)
50 Cardiff w/A.Peya (W)
42 Bergamo w/C.Kas (RU)
40 Casablanca w/T.Behrend (QF)
40 s-Hertogenbosch w/G.Muller (QF)
35 Dresden w/C.Kas (RU)
24 Germany F5 w/P.Stolt (W)
22 Eckental w/D.Meffert (SF)
18 Utd Arab E. F1 w/M.Chiudinelli (W)
---
14 Aachen w/D.Meffert (QF)
726

He will finish the season with at least 726 points. The problem is that all his top 3 tournaments and Bergamo were in week 4-8, so he has to defend 292 points in February. An early success next year would be important, I hope he'll start with a rather weak tournament like Chennai.

Every win is important now to improve his chances for an Australian Open qualifying spot. Next year he should play more tournaments and score in at least 18.

Post New ATP Ranking: 310:)

Though he lost the final against Gulbis he climbs up the ladder in the rankings.

He is now 310 and just 40 points far away from a place in the top 250 which should be enough for booking a place into the Australian Open Qualifying

I think 310 should be enough. There are always a lot of players who don't travel around the world just to play qualies...
