Re: Florian Mayer Cheering Thread

Tough loss, very close, but Canas is a very tough player. Florian could do with a little break

Is he playing Kitzbuhel?

Re: Florian Mayer Cheering Thread

Mayer is not nominated for Olympia The National Olympic Comitee didn´t nominate him because he fullfilled the criterion for nomination (ranking higher than 32 or reaching quarterfinal of a GS) two weeks too late.

I think it´s a pity they don´t reward him for his efforts! Now he has to wait four years for the next Olympics because his sucess came 2 weeks too late! A fine way to encourage young players

Here´s the article from Greman yahoo:

Keine Olympia-Nominierung für Mayer
Mo 19 Jul, 17:12 Uhr

Re: Florian Mayer Cheering Thread

Same thing happened to Maria Sharapova - she won Wimbledon, but her ranking at the deadline was too low and she missed out.

Poor Florian, maybe he can take a little break during that time though, he has played a lot of weeks in a row now.

Re: Florian Mayer Cheering Thread

Yes, hopefully Florian will still get in. Anca Barna also would deserve to get in as well.

Florian is into the next round in Kitzbuhel. He has beaten Peter Luczak 6-2, 6-4

Re: Florian Mayer Cheering Thread

According to some people on WTAworld, Florian will be at the Olympics now I am not sure if that is definite, but apparently there was a mistake by the German Tennis Federation and he should have been nominated. I hope this is true and he gets to go!!

Jaques Rogge and the ITF has put enough pressure on GERMAN Olympic comitee and so they he got the nomination.

and Florian has reach the quarterfinal in Kitzbühl
hopefully he will face Schüttler again, and this time he will beat Rainer
