He lost to Andy 6-7(11) 6-7(3) He should have taken 1st set but I thought he got destroyed again. It's OK.

GL next week, Rome

Re: Florian Mayer Cheering Thread

Can anyone explain his schedule to me?

He was injured last week and now plays a Challenger Tournament on red clay instead of getting fit for Wimbledon or at least playing a grass tournament?

(Remember the Olympics decision was totally random and strange) but I actually do not understand his schedule at anytime.

Why is he playing this week instead of playing next week a ATP grass tournament which would mean:
+ 1 week of rest
+ better surface for his game...

Re: Florian Mayer Cheering Thread

Probably same as last year.

In this year, he's not good form and he wants to gain confidence and some points because he has to defend many points at last year's Wimbledon.

However He lost 2R in Prostejov

Well, he's onto Halle QF's ( been playing better since clay started, such a shame he got injured ), third QF or better of the year ( after Munich QF's & Bucharest SF's). He plays Gasquet, whom he beated last year in Wimbledon.

He lost to Gasquet 3-6 6-7(4) He wasn't so bad as I thought.

Hopefully he gets good draw at Wimbledon.

After his R1 loss in Wimbledon he's won Braunschweig CH, nice for him, he gets back some points after losing 360 in Wimbledon.

He beated Andreas Beck yesterday in 3 sets on Sttutgart R1 [ 6/4 3/6 6/1]. Interesting match coming up next for him, Monfils is aleays a tricky customer, and Flo might be tired after his last week run. We'll see!

Re: Florian Mayer Cheering Thread

Next match is Hamburg. 1R is Davydenko. Mayer has poor record against him
Hopefully he can win but I can't expect at all.

Re: Florian Mayer Cheering Thread

In Hamburg, he won against Davydenko (6-1 6-3) and Dolgo (6-3 6-4), 1R and 2R.

These were good win for him.

Next match against Feli but he is also poor match-up for Mayer.

Re: Florian Mayer Cheering Thread

Finally Mayer was able to beat Feli 7-6(1) 6-2
He lost to Roger 6-7(3) 6-3 5-7 It was close match and he didn't play badly at all.

Good thing were he can defend 90pt and he was able to beat Kolya (2-5) and Feli (1-3) before this week.

Re: Florian Mayer Cheering Thread

Montréal Draw

R1 Tomic
R2 Nole

However he has never played well in North America HC.
Probably he loses to Tomic as possible

Good win today, 57 63 63, he was really bad in the 1st set, and Bernard was really bad in the 2nd, but the third set was just great from Flo, hitting the ball cleanly and volleying really good. He will most likely get destroyed by Nole ( like always they play) but I'm happy with the way he played today ( and I think he was half sick as he was coughing really hard in changeovers). Good luck tomorrow Flo!

BTW, he gets a 4-1 H2H vs Tomic, quite a good matchup.
