Began playing at age five...Nicknamed “Flo”...His father, Bernd, is a teacher, and his mother, Sabine, is a shop manager...Has one younger brother, Michael...Idolized Boris Becker and Pete Sampras as a child...Trained as a junior with the German Tennis Federation...Turned professional at age 17 after completing school...A soccer fan, his favorite team is Bayern Munich...Trains at Tennis Base in Oberhaching outside Munich...Named 2004 ATP Newcomer of Year...Coached by Tobias Summerer since August 2009.

He will return to the Tour after an injury next week in France, which made him miss the Aussie Open. Go Flo!

Re: Florian Mayer Cheering Thread

Florian unfortunately suffered with injury and hasn't been 100% for much of the season, but the result in Miami should be an indication things are turning around for him. Now onto European clay, this is the time of the season he really shines and the result in Miami is the perfect way to enter the clay season with confidence.

His next tournament is Casablanca the week after next. He will have a bye in R1 as a top four seed, so hopefully he gets a good draw and can do some damage at the event!

Re: Florian Mayer Cheering Thread

He is clearly the favourite for Casablanca. Please win your 2nd ATP title Flo .

BTW, why does a Top-20 player like F.Mayer doesn't have his own forum ?

Gilles Simon
Benoît Paire, Edouard Roger-Vasselin,Nicolas Mahut, Jeremy Chardy, Aljaz Bedene, Florian Mayer, Tommy Robredo, Evgeny Korolev, Albert Ramos, Guillaume Rufin

I'm not sure, either, it's ridiculous..........the subforums are very outdated in many ways. But hopefully that changes soon!

Casablanca Draw
http://www.atpworldtour.com/posting/2012/360/mds.pdf

It's kind of tricky draw

Chardy is dangerous player when on fire and then Ramos is good form recently.

Good luck.

Re: Florian Mayer Cheering Thread

Bad draw for being the 1st seed on a weak ATP 250 , R2 against one of my favourites Chardy, QF against Ramos, who is playing great lately. If he gets to SF, he should win vs GGL or Istomin. Anyways, GL Flo!

Re: Florian Mayer Cheering Thread

GL Flo! Flo should be able to use his variety to frustrate Chardy. Hopefully he can get the win; he needs some points and confidence after his poor start to the season.
