Federer's forehand 2012

Hi all,

I've noticed this year Federer sometimes hits his forehand in a similar motion to Nadal, in particular the follow through.

Rather than following through by swinging over his left shoulder, half the time he brings the racquet up vertically above his right shoulder, very similar to Nadal's follow through?

Does anyone know the reason for this? I guess it may be something to do with him trying to conserve energy as he's getting older?

Dear Mike, there is a Roger Federer subforum,
please watch it.

Personally, I haven't noticed this similarity to Nadal forehand grip.

Re: Federer's forehand 2012

hi mike, the answer to this is to produce more top spin and clearance to the net. there is a tendency for the ball to fall short but it will fall inside the court which is the main reason. it is also slow so the main point is also to reset the point.
