Re: Individual Tournament

Klahn beat Jenkins 7-5 6-3. Looks like Klahn is getting back into form. Disappointing end of the year for Jarmere.

Domijan routed King 6-3 6-2. Once again showing he plays better when he plays for himself.

Re: Individual Tournament

matches tomorrow:

1 Steve Johnson vs Nassim Slilam - Interesting matchup. Obviously SJ is the clear favorite but the game Senior could give him a little fight. However Johnson's ultra heavy inside-out forehand will pick apart Slilam's one-hander in the end.

Sadio Doumbia vs Neal Skupski

Alex Domijan vs George Coupland - Domijan should roll

Alex Musialek vs Ignacio Taboada - Nacho has been playing great lately. Notoriously slow starter Musialek must be careful to not let himself fall into too deep of a hole early.

Bradley Klahn vs Remi Boutillier - Klahn is finding his form again which is bad news for everyone. Boutillier is always a tough customer though.

Chase Buchanan vs Kevin King - I would really like to see King win this.

Bob van Overbeek vs Louis Cant - Fresh off his upset of Fanselow BVB should win.

Nick Scholtz vs Jose Hernandez - Good match here

Costin Paval vs Gonzalo Escobar - Paval is 2-0 vs Escobar this year

5 Henrique Cunha vs Daniel Nguyen - Can D-Win upset Cunha?

Artem Illyushin vs Jonas Lutjen - They know each others teams well, but they have never met

3 Eric Quigley vs Andreas Mies - Quigley win their matchup earlier this yeat 7-5 6-2

Blaz Rola vs Elimio Gomez - Rola bicycled Borsos of LSU in the first round. Should handle Gomez

7 Dennis Nevolo vs Marcel Thiemann

Wil Spencer vs Luka Somen - Upset alert here. Somen can grind Spencer down

2 Mitchell Frank vs Ray Sarmiento - Can Frank get revenge on Sarmiento for beating his teammate? Sarmiento has played like a man possessed recently. Beating Mesiter 6-1 6-1 and then beatinng Domijan. I think Frank will win, but it will be pretty tight.

Really interested in Frank v Sarmiento. They are both grinders, right?

yes. Sarmiento is more athletic and quicker around the court. But Frank is more solid and more tactical. It'll be a good one.

Re: Individual Tournament

Frank beat Sarmiento 6-4 6-1. Samieto led 4-2 in the first set. It's just hard to maintain vs that level of consistency.

tomorrow:

1 Steve Johnson(USC) vs Neal Skupski(LSU)
Alex Domijan(UVA) vs Alex Musialek(UK)
Bradley Klahn(Stanford) vs Chase Buchanan(Ohio State) - good matchup here. Klahn axed Boutiller 6-1 6-1
Louis Cant(Miss State) vs Nik Scholtz(Ole Miss)

Gonzalo Escobar(TxTech) vs Henriqu Cunha(Duke)
Arten Illyushin(Miss State) vs Eric Quigley(UK)
Blaz Rola(Ohio State) vs Dennis Nevolo(Illinois)
Wil Spencer(UGA) vs Mtchell Frank(UVA)

Re: Individual Tournament. Round of 16 set

Too bad about Sarmiento, though I guess it was expected for someone who plays his game better than he does. Also agree on Klahn v Buchanan probably being the best round of 16 matchup. Other good ones could be Rola v Nevolo and Spencer v Frank.

a very talented group of quarterfinalists. Johnson vs Domijan will be a good one. I think Rola could take out Frank.

Re: Individual Tournament. Quarterfinals.

Webb/Paval upset Klahn/Thacher to end Thacher's college career. He was the typical Stanford player of the last decade in the sense that tennis was never much of a priority compared to academics(not that there is anything wrong with that)and he basically didn't improve at all from when he was 18. Too bad though, I think he had some very good potential if he improved himself like SJ has done.

Also, SJ had to retire in doubles so no chance at the elusive triple crown. All of a sudden with Johnson/Quiroz and Klahn/Thacher out I find the doubles tournament boring. Anyway I hope Steve's good for the semis tomrrow.
