he just won a game, but did you catch him? he is breathing very heavy.
he really is nervous, got to r e l a x...
also putting little heat on the ball, and unfortunaetly hitting fairly short in the court - the ball is landing before the service line 4 out of 5 times, putting his opponent in very good position to bring aggression to him. c'MON guille, hit the ball deep.
finally!!, some strategy! he really took it to his backhand, and made him play out of that corner. It is at least a start, try to handcuff this guy a little and stop him from swinging so freely.
He didn't even give a crap about that last game. But really, who's the ump? Gary Anderson???
Anyway, a few observations:
He can't handle body shots on either side,
Changed his mind about being aggressive; approached the net twice, one dropshot. 2of 2 at the net, too.
In the 4th game, which he won, he stepped into the court, pushing Marc further behind the baseline. Worked too.
Uh, that's all I guess. I would like to see more conviction in his shots and more decisiveness on where he plans to be during the point. Like, he used to have very astute court vision, and sorta knew what the other guy was gonna do.
Return of serve is still good, placement not so much..
well, he's playing considerably better and with more force - he certainly almsst got that break of serve, and holding now for 3-2 he looks good. Better placement, more thought, more power.
Ya know, I hate that he was like "ah man I didn't break!" Sure it was important, but a better way to take it would be "Ha! I almost got you " ya know? Maybe it's me, but positive body language is a must.
that was a much less intense first game of 3rd set, he got a little nervous & SELF CONSCIOUS again, and didnt lean into the court. C'mon guille, get into the zone again.
