Re: Guille in Casablanca

he just won a game, but did you catch him? he is breathing very heavy.

he really is nervous, got to r e l a x...

also putting little heat on the ball, and unfortunaetly hitting fairly short in the court - the ball is landing before the service line 4 out of 5 times, putting his opponent in very good position to bring aggression to him. c'MON guille, hit the ball deep.

Re: Guille in Casablanca

first set 1-6 too quick.

he needs better returning, better movement and more patience. he goes for the winner without constructing the point. keep fighting!

Re: Guille in Casablanca

finally!!, some strategy! he really took it to his backhand, and made him play out of that corner. It is at least a start, try to handcuff this guy a little and stop him from swinging so freely.

good first game 2nd set for guille!

Re: Guille in Casablanca

He didn't even give a crap about that last game. But really, who's the ump? Gary Anderson???

Anyway, a few observations:
He can't handle body shots on either side,
Changed his mind about being aggressive; approached the net twice, one dropshot. 2of 2 at the net, too.
In the 4th game, which he won, he stepped into the court, pushing Marc further behind the baseline. Worked too.
Uh, that's all I guess. I would like to see more conviction in his shots and more decisiveness on where he plans to be during the point. Like, he used to have very astute court vision, and sorta knew what the other guy was gonna do.
Return of serve is still good, placement not so much..

Someday, we'll all be free.

I disagree! I think he was controlling the 5th game in the 1st, just put it in the net. I mean these rallies have quite a few strokes going; maybe just need better shot selection.

Anyway, 2 great holds; a couple of droppers in that 3rd game

yes, it got much better at the end of the first set and now he is controlling most of the rallies. a bit unlucky in that last game.

Re: Guille in Casablanca

well, he's playing considerably better and with more force - he certainly almsst got that break of serve, and holding now for 3-2 he looks good. Better placement, more thought, more power.
