Aww, it's ok to believe *pat on the back*

Meanwhile, Guille and Charles lost their doubles match, 6-2, 6-7, 7-10. Of course they TRIED to win, which is apparent by the score. Charles (funny, no?) lost his singles match too...

Will Guille get a hair cut to celebrate his win????

Re: brazil: guille prevails against aldi 6-4 7-5, next: pippo volandri!!

Even though he lost by such a harsh score I heard good things about this match from people who managed to watch it. He df-ed much less (only 7 of them), his rallies were good but Volandri was on fire today and you all know he's not an easy player to beat.

Anyhow, he made the next step, that is winning a match. Only good things to come from now on, I'm sure! Maybe next week, he'll win 2 matches in a row and so on (yes, I know, I'm very optimistic this morning )

*edit: Just watched that video His face is simply glowing after the match, in that interview, he looks so happy!!!

Re: brazil: guille prevails against aldi 6-4 7-5, next: pippo volandri!!

Volandri is too good a player on clay for Coria at this moment. I hope he didn't lose the confidence he gained in his win. I think he is playing well just needs to cut the double faults down. Most tennis matches, even those won in straight sets (say 6-3, 6-3) only have a few points between the players. If Coria gives 10 points in double faults that's likely to be the difference...

I still think a Challenger, and playing the likes of Aldi each match would be better for him than losing to great clay courters in the 1st or 2nd round of ATP matches.

Thank you Deea! What a great, informative post (which was barely read!)! 7 dfs! When's the last time he had THAT few??
The score looks pretty lop-sided, but of course that's the only thing most of us saw: A score. So taking from your reports, I'm optimistic It's always good to know he didn't df his life away, now I wish I could know UFE stats.

Is he playing next week??

Someday, we'll all be free.

A very positive match for Guille. He was gracious in defeat and knows exactly where he stands, he's not expecting unrealistic things of himself and is content to gradually reach his level of play again. This is definitely the right attitude to have and I'm proud of him for remaining so mature and optimistic.

Thank you guys also for your kind words towards Filippo.

Re: brazil: guille wins a match, but has still a lot of things to do...

ok 1 and 2 is harsh, but we try to stay positive here. thanks deea for your short report about the match. seems like his baseline game didn't work at all and volandri seemed to play quite good. he needs to keep on working hard to get back to a top50 level but i can see some progress. i'm also surprised by the doubles score (i wonder what his stats were there...). i don't know if he should play rather challengers than ATP matches, but he should definatley try to play as much as possible, like i said before.

oh, and good to see the haters back in GM! feedback by trolls and haters means that he is really back now

ok, but i think thats good - so he has taken stock of what happened, and i am sure there are a few things he came away with wanting to work on, seeing what he is doing in the real match. so hopefully this is not just a break, but he knows why he needs these couple of weeks.

is he still working with luli??

well, it seems I won't see Guille this year at Buenos Aires...perhaps for the best, I don't really want to see Guille's ghost hovering over the court
