Marseille? So, unless he will pull a Thiem and plays everywhere, I assume not Rotterdam neither Acapulco this year.

Yeah probably this is the case but he has played 3 tournaments in a row before even last year around the fall season but yeah Rotterdam is quite likely to be out of his schedule but I don't see why not play Acapulco. I think he should.

That way only Marseille/Acapulco and IW/Miami would be the 2 tournaments he plays back to back. There is few days rest between Acapulco and IW and we know that IW/Miami not a lot of tennis is played in the first week and Dimitrov is not guaranteed to reach deep in every tournament so I think Acapulco he should give it a shot IMO.

Rotterdam too (13-19/02), he's on the entry list.

So 3 straight weeks in Europe after the AO. I assume if he manages to go deep in Australia, he's cutting Rotterdam or Marseille, or both.

Only if he plays them all.

It's not that bad signing up for a lot of tournaments imho, it's bad when you play all of them (Paire, Thiem).

Re: 2017 schedule

Surely won't play Marseilles if he goes deep here at Rotterdam?

Roger Federer 18.

No probably won't since they will be few points to be gained.

He may have to go there and tank the first match/retire. I've heard (unverified) rumours about him having signed some advertising contracts with some of the sponsors. But even so, it won't be too bad. Clearly, he needs a rest and time to prepare for IW/Miami.

Re: 2017 schedule

I'm starting to think he may play Marseille too, even if he wins Rotterdam. As the seed #2, he can ask to play only on Thursday, so it's not like impossible. Balls will be the same as Rotterdam. And Indian Wells is like 2 weeks after Marseille.

I'm betting to compensate his early part of the season full of matches, he won't play any 250 or 500 on clay this year, just the 3 masters and RG.

It would be plain madness to play Marseille. Even if he dropped out today against Goffin... Not much points to win and just playing matches for the sake of it. He will be tired by then and risking injury. Absolutely stupid. We don't need another Thiem. He is destined for bigger things. Everything should be geared up towards successful IE and Miami. Hope your feeling is wrong. Anything more than 1 match there would be crazy.
