Which Grisho backed up with a love-hold. I don't think Melzer even touched a ball that game!

And a second break to love. I think 12 consecutive points for Grigor now...

ok, make that 17 consecutive points to finish! 2x love-holds, 2x love breaks plus winning the previous game! High quality serving and self control in both sets from our man. 6-3 6-2!

Great stuff!

Good win despite shaky 1st serve % in 1st set.
The draw is open up for him now that Simon is gone. I prefer Baggy to Simon for Grigor.

Another great win for Grigor! He seems to have improved his game and demeanor significantly. Baggy next, a very winnable match!

RAFAEL NADAL and GRIGOR DIMITROV

Rafa winning at least one slam in 10 consecutive years is the best achievement in Open Era tennis since Laver won all 4 Grand slam tournaments in the same year!

Don't ever underestimate the heart of a champion!

I find myself becoming more and more a fan I admit back when Grigor got his Forum I thought he was too young to have a Forum. But he now seems to have "grown" into his Forum plus the Forum is active and you can't say that for many players' forums here at MTF!

Oh oh, hope he has some rest and feel better tomorrow.

Despite admitting he didn’t feel 100 per cent on court, the 21-year-old Dimitrov played with experience beyond his years to topple Melzer in less than an hour.
That explains 1st serve in Set1.

WOW WOW WOW. Best match I've ever witnessed live in 12 years of travelling to tennis tournaments. Absolutely amazing!!

I did manage to get a quick "congratulations" in to Mikael Tillstrom after the match but he was busy on his phone. Mikael's wife, Sofia was really lovely to meet and we had a great chat. once I told her how expensive centre court tickets are for the semis she offered to see if she could get me a ticket (which she now has done!!). So i can go to the semi and cheer him on too!! Will post a few pics again too

Grigor Dimitrov | Jarkko Nieminen | Stan Wawrinka
Simon Aspelin | Jonas Bjorkman | Thomas Enqvist | Thomas Johansson | Magnus Norman | Robin Soderling

That's awesome news getting a ticket! It just goes to show, being a Grigor fan always pays off.

Cheer loud for all of us on here. There are a lot of Greeks in Australia (as I'm sure you know) so Marcos will get a lot of crowd support. In this form though, I'm picking Grigor to win tomorrow.

Welcome to the club and this is easily one of the best player forums on MTF.

Re: Grigor " The Great " in 2013 (General thread)

Anyone think he might/should pull out of Sydney next week to rest up for the AO? He's exceeded all expectations this week and with his success as well in the doubles, he's played enough tennis to get into shape for the AO.

I guess if he do well in Sydney he can be seeded at AO, am i right, i'm not sure which ranking they get for the seeding?getting the fact that Andy and Fish are out Grisho need like 150 points to be seeded.
