Re: Grigor in Basel

Great result and these are the types of matches that will turn him into a top player. He's struggled with tie-breaks and losing an early lead in the past but he showed today he can re-focus and dig deep when he has to. A win in the next round would move him into the top 50 where he belongs.

Not before 6pm local time which is perfect for me as I should be home from work by then. I can't wait and I really hope he wins.

PS, who care about Roger?

Re: Grigor in Basel

Why do I get the feeling Grigor will win and Roger will lose?

Re: Grigor in Basel

Good luck, Grisha! Don't miss this great opportunity!

RAFAEL NADAL and GRIGOR DIMITROV

Rafa winning at least one slam in 10 consecutive years is the best achievement in Open Era tennis since Laver won all 4 Grand slam tournaments in the same year!

Don't ever underestimate the heart of a champion!

Re: Grigor in Basel

I can't see Roger losing to Benoit Paire...I do think that the Mathieu match will be a tough one, but if the stars align we could see the match-up we're looking for. Would love to see Grigor advance to the semis.

Re: Grigor in Basel

Well of course we all want Grigor to win today After all if he does - he will reach his first semifinal at ATP 500 event, he will finally break the Top 50 and he will meet Roger.
The only bad thing is that he will have to skip the Paris Masters, because he has to start from qualies, but if he wins today - on Saturday he will play Roger. There's one SE spot in the Masters, but I think he need to play a final in Basel to get it and I don't think he will get a WC as well So most probably a win today, means he will finish the season tomorrow with the match against Roger ... unless he beat him

Re: Grigor in Basel

Winning matches here is far more important than playing qualifiers in Paris. I would love to see a match between Grigor and Roger. I think it would be a great experience for him and as long as he goes into it believing he can win.
