Re: ☼ 2012 Grigor on Clay, again ☼

Ferrer's tactic is so simple yet so effective so far:

E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G to the backhand....

He's hit some very nice shots in this match but he needs to cut down on the errors.

Great point to hold for 2-1. He's playing quite well but he needs to shorten the points and hit some bigger 1st serves.

Re: ☼ 2012 Grigor on Clay, again ☼

Worked so hard to get those 2 set points, wasted on 2 backhand return errors.........

The day that backhand gets some sort of consistency is the day he becomes a top player......

It was a fun match. He has played well this week and he should take a lot of confidence into his next tournament.

Oh well, not a bad week. Playing Ferru is never easy, even though David didn't bring his A game -- he didn't need to

No, he can't do that, first, his charming face is on THIS head; second, his racquet sponsor is Wilson now

After all he played really well this week, and hope he can keep this status next week
Ferrer withdraw Gstaad, although Tipsarevic is still there.
I think Grigor play better than he was in Miami this Match. I really want to see he beat Tipsarevic!

Re: ☼ 2012 Grigor on Clay, again ☼

I saw the second set and thought that he played very well. He just couldn't convert one of the breakpoints he had, but I think that will change ery soon. He is returning the ball much better and he is starting to have more confidence against the higher ranked players. He's still a work in progress, but he is not far away from beating someone like Ferrer. In the end I think that he didn't feel like he was supposed to win this match, but that will change in the next year. He's making good strides and is becoming more consistent off the ground. As soon as he consistently has good depth on his topspin backhand, especially cross court, he will be very successful.
