But why playing Monte Carlo instead of weaker ATP 250. I guess he has to qualify there, it is simply just so stupid! Challengers might be better idea, especially if he drop out of top 100 which is very likely to happen

Well he is going to be out of top 100 next week. About his schedule I am really surprised about the tournaments he and his team chose to play. Maybe he will be playing challengers the week after Davis cup or he is taking a week off from his so "tough" schedule of playing two, three matches a month. With every single week he misses he is getting further away from the Olympics. Really disappointing start of the season so far. Let's hope he will make a good run in IW and Miami.

If he doesn't have a good tourney at either Indian Wells or Miami (Quarterfinal or better), he's gonna have a long climb ahead of him.

Re: Grigor in 2012 (general)

lets be honest here. he needs a good draw to go on a run and even then his performance so far this year doesnt inspire confidence. a QF at either event doesnt seem likely because even with a good first round eventually he'll run into a top player

i thought someone posted in here that he was going to play challengers if he didnt have good uns in indian wells or miami..could be wrong

olympics right now doesnt seem likely since he's 42 spots off the mark and only has about 3 months to get himself where he needs to be.

He will, but only if he lose in the 1st or 2nd round in Miami Actually I prefer the challenger, because he really needs those points. If he want to play in the Olympics he will have to make some good results in the next 2-3 months.

Re: Grigor in 2012 (general)

Grigor is out of the top 100 with 46 points to defend until the cut off of the French. The main goal should be to make RG/Wimbledon directly and not the Olympics, which means winning over Dodig and all similar matches the next 1.5 months will be critical. Don't want to offend but some people here have to put things into perspective. Grigor has to start winning consistently at the ATP level before thinking about goals beyond where they realistically should be at this time.

Re: Grigor in 2012 (general)

I just hope Grigor can get a good coach and work on putting his game together consistently most youngsters nowadays are really struggling with not just mental but with putting their gamestyle together in a consistant balance, i just hope that this year he will find a breakthrough, it doesnt matter what tournament it is, i just want him to get good results.

Re: Grigor in 2012 (general)

Patrick Mouratoglou is officially Grigor's new coach!

Dimitrov appoints Mouratoglou as coach

After three defeats in his four main draw appearances in 2012, promising Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov has turned to Patrick Mouratoglou as his new full-time mentor

Promising talent Grigor Dimitrov has appointed Patrick Mouratoglou as his new personal coach.

The 20-year-old Bulgarian has trained at the Frenchman’s eponymous academy since March 2009 and had been looking for a new mentor after splitting with Peter Macnamara at the end of the 2011 season.

Dimitrov reached a career-high No.52 in the world under Macnamara in August last year but after dropping to No.102 in the world on Monday - having won just one of his four main draw matches this year - the Bulgarian is hoping Mouratoglou can guide him back up the rankings.

"I am excited about this opportunity and grateful for the support I have from the academy,” said Dimitrov. “Now I’m looking forward to take the next step in my tennis together with Patrick and my team.”

Since February 2011, Mouratoglou has worked with compatriot Jeremy Chardy, who Dimitrov defeated in the first round of the Australian Open this year, but is excited about taking a more hands on role with the young Bulgarian.

"I am very happy to work with Grigor in a closer way and with the idea of building a long-term project,” said Mouratoglou. “I appreciate the young man, believe in him, and I am very motivated by this collaboration.”

Dimitrov has been singled out for his potential for a while. Until 2010, he worked with Peter Lundgren, coach of former world No.1s Roger Federer and Marat Safin, with the Swede saying soon after their link-up that the 6’2” right-hander is “better than Federer was at his age.”

Re: Grigor in 2012 (general)

I hope he finds his best tennis against Dodig beating him (he did it last time) and expetially against Ferrer. He can beat him.
I believe he is able to beat all after the fab 4.
C'mon Grigor!!!
