BRAVO GRISHA!!! I am very happy with the win, although I expected our boy to win much easier. Anyway, hope he beats Robert, too and then take the title

Yes, they played doubles, lost the firs set, took the second one just to lose the match in the 3rd part...

That was strange, looked like he played to win this match after all...

I hope he will manage to take his match tomorrow! Fingers crossed!

Re: Cherbourg Challenger - No 1 seed!!!

This is from the challenger website:

Grigor Dimitrov, 19, 78th World

In 2009, for his second ATP tournament, he has Tomas Berdych and takes a set to a certain Rafael Nadal. The young Bulgarian is the subject of much hope and admiration, even at his young age he is seen as the legacy of Roger Federer. His goal? He does not hide it: to be world number one. To achieve this, he uses all means at the academy Mouratoglou, Peter McNamara, former great player and now coach of Grigor, brings all his experience. We can see his determination here in Cherbourg, very concentrated, it has first of all French David Guez 7 / 6 7 / 6, then needed against Czech Ivo Minar 7 / 2 6 / 2 before snatch victory in a great shape Stephane Bohli 6 / 7 7 / 6 6 / 3 despite a painful thigh. His determination and mental, seemingly flawless make him the favorite of this semifinal, but he must beware of a Stephane Robert in his greatest shape and very confident.

what does has to mean? is he injured or...and why playing doubles then???

Re: Cherbourg Challenger - No 1 seed!!!

I think he would not have played doubles for an hour and a half if he had any pain in the thigh. He would have rested and saved himself for the singles so for me it is not a serious injury, but we will see.
Good luck today!

Re: Cherbourg Challenger - No 1 seed!!!

Oh, no!

Media commented that Grigor had a medical timeout at the first set 5-4 and after that made some errors wich caused him losing the set. So it is really an injury

http://www.saint-lo.maville.com/spor...15766_actu.Htm

this is a google translation of the article:

To scare the young Bulgarian and tournament director. Not so much that Dimitrov had played three sets. When the level of play is good, it's always good for the show. What makes us fear the worst is that it 5-4 for the first set, Dimitrov-seeded No. 1 in the table, called the physio for a hamstring concern and is ... out of the game for several games. Clearly embarrassed about endorsements, including its mugs of setbacks, he has made mistakes and allowed the unusual first set in Switzerland Bohli. The level of play is suddenly dropped a notch and it was clearly fears a drop in the stands full of Chantereyne well. That would put a hit on the head in the tournament. But no, that's why, among other things, we are told that this young Bulgarian is definitely very strong, Dimitrov was handed in, distilling his backhand a la Roger Federer to exit Stephane Bohli, who has finally let go. But one question: can he really go after the tournament, fell well?

Stephane Robert, 31, the surprise guest

......

His chances against Grigor Dimitrov? Thin. But Stephane Robert assets. It is an experienced player, who plays his age rather released by betting on tennis fun, choosing his tournaments often based tourist resorts. With Dimitrov, he often sets of drives. "I feel he may be a form of respect. I know that I dread. That may be my chance. "And we know now, the Bulgarian is not really 100% physically. For Robert, there may be a small break.

Re: Cherbourg Challenger - No 1 seed!!!

Grigor won 6-3 6-0 in 67 minutes! Looks like he was keeping points short, maybe trying not to irritate whatever he did to his hamstring? not sure. His stats were ok, not his best undertandably, but he faced down alot of break points but obviously scored alot of beak points to. So it looks like he is playing the big points well, even if he was struggling to close out his service games sometimes. Grigor into the Final! =]
