He also has the Champaign Challenger at the end of the yr, which he didn't play last year, another opportunity to add pts before the end of the yr. I'd say he's in good position to crack the top 100 by year's end, if he plays well.
Your last four words are the key, though. If he plays well. This time of season is usually his best, but for some reason he's been struggling, possibly if not likely due to the flu he had. He needs to pick it up, immediately. He has basically three events (Tiburon, Knoxville, Champaign) where he can gain points. He'll need to take advantage, and then try to defend as much as possible in the other two events.

I really hope the pressure of top 100 status isn't getting to Donald. Ever since he made it back in the top 100 is when he starting struggling. That will be the one thing going forward that could damage his chances.

Definitely mental, no I'm not surprised either. He had a big lead in their match in Indian Wells and lost, and then had a lead in Aptos and lost. So there probably was a carry-over effect to yesterday. It's still a horrible loss. There is literally no reason he should lose to Matosevic. I agree, winning once against him will get him over the hump.

Anyway, I agree, he needs to make at least the SF at both events, or make the final/win and QF at both events. He can no longer afford early losses. We all know Don is a confidence guy, hopefully that isn't being damaged with these losses.

Probably we´ll know when they update the draw after end of play which means evening in CA = (early) morning in Europe.

Federer |Söderling |most of the Germans

I also like: Wawrinka | Tsonga | Dimitrov | Isner | Gulbis |

Warm regards: 6-3 6-0 / 6-3 6-4

Oh definitely, I agree with you. In fact, the USTA should tell all their Challenger events to at least have a twitter account. This is the second year of the Sacto Challenger being at this club, hopefully they will host it again next year and realize that people off site have an interest in what is going on there.

Best twitter posts of the epic match:

@dougrobson - Whoever is supplying Mahut with hair gel needs to ink a sponsorship deal now.

@Wimbledon - FYI, with @Wimbledon live scoring devices, please add 50 to the games in the fifth set of the Isner v Mahut match.

@HolterMedia - Nice to see that a three-day test has come to tennis here @wimbledon.
