Europe/Africa Zone Group I 1R: Slovak Republic at Portugal (March 4-6, 2011)

Line-up´s:
Portugal: Frederico Gil, Rui Machado, Leonardo Tavares and João Sousa.
Eslovaquia: Lucas Lacko, Martin Klizan, Filip Polasek e Michal Martinak.
Very tight afair. SLK betting in a strong doubles team. Slow court and looooong exchanges are in order to wear out the slovaks.
Força Portugal!

There is no reason why Portugal shouldn't win this at home.

Both Gil and Machado are surely better on clay than Lacko and Klizan. Just hope there are no chokes and no injuries.

If we beat Slovak Republic, we will face Switzerland and I wouldn't be surprised if both Federer and Wawrinka skip the tie, which would give us a quite easy win once again at home against Chiudinelli, Bohli and Lammer.

PORTUGUESE ARMADA!!!

*JOÃO SOUSA* *GASTÃO ELIAS* *FREDERICO GIL* *PEDRO SOUSA* *RUI MACHADO*

Federer has to play Davis Cup at least once by next year to be able to play the Olympics which is one of his main goals.

It would be better to play to have a chance to reach the world group than to avoid relegation to group II

Also the match against Portugal would be in Switzerland (right after Wimbledon) and not too tough on a fast court.

Actually I think the Swiss would prefer to play against the Portuguese because the Slovaks might play at home (would be decided by lot) and they might even play on clay

useless old guy

Portugal must be the favourite ones. Playing at home, and on clay, is a big advantadge. But it's not totally guaranteed, because we will lose on doubles, and Gil always lose against Klizan. VAMOS PORTUGAL, VENÇAM POR NÓS!
