I would save him for a 5th rubber if needed.

Hope Nalby won't have to play on sunday...he could have a surgery for his hernia after DC tie

Chela should have too much class for Ungur, and certainly he was fairly successful during the South American clay swing. The captain should have more faith in him, and surely he is worth taking Nalbandian's place?

I'd have taken Bandy off the team and actually brought Zeballos in. At least then Argentina could use an established doubles pairing against Hanescu and Tecau.

Zeballos preferred to play Salinas challenger and asked Vazquez not to play DC tie

ARGENTINA leads ROMANIA 2-0

David Nalbandian (ARG) d. Adrian Ungur (ROU) 63 62 57 64
Juan Monaco (ARG) d. Victor Hanescu (ROU) 76(5) 16 61 61

disappointing last two sets from Hanescu

Agree with the previous posters that it wasn`t a good idea to pick an injured Nalbandian against Ungur. It would had been a better idea to pick up Chela or Schwank as Ungur was not a thread.
Monaco won a key and very important rubber against Hanescu as Romania is the favourite to win the doubles match. Now with Argentina leading 2-0 the tie is almost finished.

yeah he fought to death, and pain must have been horrible. I think it was very brave and now Argentina is in quarterfinal.

Dave. It's hard to watch, him in tears. Now he'll likely be out for months.

I watched this match. Tecau played in a real low level and none of them played well at the net with the match proposed by the Rumanian team. Schwank was the best player of the match (net game, return of serves, good conception of the doubles game overall). Chela played ok with very good returns of serve and from the baseline but with huge troubles when he had to play a few metres inside the court (not even to mention when he had to volley).

Particularly I take my hat off for Nalbandian who played with an hernia and an injury on his left leg aductor muscles since the first set and for Monaco who won a key match against Hanescu on that 2nd single rubber

Hopefully this is the last tie Romania plays in the WG for a while. Congrats Argentina!

^No . I know they are one of the worst teams in the WG and teams outside of the WG are better than Romania, but they've always been one of my favorite teams especially when Andrei Pavel played

Marcos Baghdatis Forever!

Through the good and the bad, always my #1, no matter what the rankings say

Adrian Ungur - Juan Monaco: 6-4; 2-6; 6-3 !

Adrian got a very nice victory today, it's time for him to enter the top 100 this year, because he showed this weekend that he can play at the same level with top players like Nalbandian or Monaco.
